rom1
Hello KH main gears need to be bended more.I took Gary Wickham's work as inspiration. Then struts are detailed with lead wire, aluminium adhavise tape and PE from Eduard set.https://www.scalespot.com/onthebench/mig25/build.htm Armory resin wheels are more detailed and realistic. Struts are painted with gunze 337 thinned with clear varnish and levelling thinner. It gives a very smooth surfaces. After a dark brown wash with oils, details are drybrushed with acrylic light gray. Some details are painted as the wires.AK Enamel Engine Oil is added too on hinges. Base color is a mix okf Akan 73060 and gunze.A brown/black wash is done with oils. Then a drybrush of light green enhance the raised details Tires are painted with gunze H77 tire black. After a black wash, a light grey drybrush make the raised details pop out. Thanks for watching! Do not hesitate to leave comments or critics! Bye

rom1
Hello Bug update with exhaust and camo painting! Exhausts Resin exhausts from Barracuda. A must have if you want to depict an accurate interceptor.Note that the parts provided by Kitty hawk are accurate for... "R" and B" version. I had to remove the kit PC ducts to install those provided by Barracuda. Black primer on barrucuda resin exhausts On the shiny black base, Vallejo acrylic aluminium is sprayed. Weathering on the exhausts is almost exclusively done using acrylic products. Small inner petals are brushed with green, then textured using lighter color "stamped" with a piece of foam. Then petals are drybrushed with light green. Inner big petals are painted with dark gray steel. Then raised petals are painted using metal pastel drom tamiya, in a shading from blue, to burnt red, to tan. A acrylic wash is then applied. Outer petals are tainted with burnt red pigments, and a black wash is applied. CAMO PAINTING Black Basing! The mig is primed with Mr Hobby black Surfacer, then smooth sanded with abarasive pads and micromesh with water: Black areas are filled using a very light mix of grays and off white. Paint is sprayed in a "mottling" manner. Then some beige, blue and smoke is sprayed on some panels: Now I can spray the final color coat using Akan 73059 gray, mixed with clear varnish and flow improver. The mix is thinned with Levelling thinner. The paint is heavily thinned, in order to keep control on opacity: After the first coat, effects are too strong. I will spray another very thinned coat adding some blue in it. Result after second coat. Effect are still here, but more subtle: Bye! rom1
Hello carrying on painting! Basic masking and painting for radome and RWR areas. Intake doors were positioned like this because the KH instructions and parts are not accurate. But now, we see the whole MIg interior... Eduard set 48808 will be helpful to hide the mig guts... Intakes are painted grey, then washed with black grey thinned oil, and drybrushed with light grey. Doors are primed with Mr Hobby Metal primer, primed with yellow and painted red with H3. rom1
Hi guys! Some updates on the Foxbat. On Iraki Foxbat, upper wing fences are replaced by chaff/flare dispensers. Because it was too late when I knew it, I had to remove those parts. Using reference pictures and plasticard, I scratched the dispensers. Cartridges are are cut from a quickboost set. Some sanding is needed to match the wing curve. After some scribing work: Next I will carry on with painting those parts. And I will be able to start decaling using begemot sheets. Cheers Romain

rom1
Hello Some updates I now want to finish it Decals are from Begemot, ref 48-010 and 48-011.I like to use Mr Hobby Mark Setter and Softer. It helps the decals to adhere and to conform into details. Dawood's Foxbat is supposed to be serial 25221.Arabic number are traced on ICM RB foxbat decal sheet, then cut with a sharp new blade. Decals are covered with gloss varnish. After clear cote is fully dried, decals are polished with grade 4000 micromesh in order to make the carrier film disappear Washes are prepared using ready to use products and standards oil paints. Oil mix is applied on panel lines with a fine brush. After the wash is partially dried, it is wiped off using paper towel or coton bud. Weathering continues using oil paint stampled with a piece of foam. Oil paint applied with brush ... faded with a brush. Shades are varied, here a light sand grey. A flat varnish coat is sprayed, then more weathering effect can be added with washes and oil filters. Product used: On flat coated radome result: end is near! Biggles87
Wow, a great example of how to weather a single colour finish. John
rom1
Hello guys! This time is the last time! Metal areas are enhanced with Tamiya metalic pastels and Vallejo metal acrylics using a piece of foam as a stample. Then the surfaces are worked with brush. Scratches are done using waterpencils. Photoetched antenas are glued with cyano. Cockpit seal is done with lead wire glued with cyano, then painted in black. Pink sealing paste is painted in acrylic using a small brush Canopy is glued with "Odourless" cyano from Deluxe.Canopy rod is scratched with stretched sprue and coton swab. At the very end, static dischargers from Master are glued with cynao And... finished! on a pretty busy desktop. Happy to see the end. It was quite a long and busy build. Kittyhawk model was a very bad developed kit. But now, building a accurate Interceptor Foxbat will be easier thanks to ICM Last thing, a pilot from Aerobonus range: I would like to thank Tom Cooper for the help he gave during all the build. I will take nice pictures this weekend. Until then , have fun! Romain

It's impressive the final result you've gotten outa such an inaccurate (and difficult) kit. Your Foxbat looks real awesome! My sincere congratulations to you, my mate. Any RFI piccies?
