Radpoe Spitfire
Hi, don't know if this has come down through the grapevine as yet, but I heard it on local Lincolnshire radio yesterday that it has been announced that it is likely that Scampton will become the new venue for the Waddington show from 2017. The announcement went on to say that a defence minister had contacted the Mp for the area with a view to go ahead. Fingers crossed it is the case as Scampton is better logistically. mcdonnell
Fingers crossed with me as well.It would be wonderful for Scampton to take up the honours after Waddington's legacy.RAF Lincolnshire should always have an Airshow event.I also wish the Great Yorkshire Airshow, held at former RAF Church Fenton, every future success. Here's to the future! All the best,Paul.
RMP2
Itll be beyond carnage traffic wise. At least Waddington had a few angles of attack. Ill believe it when I see it, lets put it that way.
F4u
I have herd about the possible traffic problems what would the access be like ? Would there be many entrances and exits and what about the road network around the base and surrounding area ? Don't really know the area ! Is it as big as Waddo ? RMP2
As a relative local I only see the A15 as the real way to or from any access. Being a single lane A road I see all sorts of horror if it goes that way judging by Wadds traffic issues in the past. Lincolnshire just suffers with country roads being, well, kind of countryish. But bring it on, we had all sorts of stuff over our house practicing or flying in and out for Waddington days, likewise with the Reds practicing knocking our chimney off at 9am on sunday mornings. Not so much of that since we moved to closer to Wadds flightline instead, but still, close enough to get blasted by stuff.
F4u
I had a look on good old Google and I see what you mean the A15 being a single carriage way , Oh well it's a case of get there early then as seems to be the norm !!! Guy
