Revell Heinkel He-177 A-6

Recommended Posts

Finished this evening, Revell's awesome Heinkel He-177 A-6/R-1

One of my favourite aircraft from WW2, i know it wasn't the resounding success that the Luftwaffe thought it would be but it looks epic and has always fascinated me since i was a child. The A-6 could be considered a prototype in that it was only developed as an armaments test aircraft for air to ground and anti-shipping missiles, while also allowing for different rear turret designs to be tested. I believe that im right in saying that only 6 test machines produced in this variant

One of the most enjoyable builds i think I've ever had, its a fantastic kit with great details, everything fits, great decals and goes together without any real issues.

Just noticed that i haven't put the wing light in... ah well, one last task then im done lol

That is very nice.

Well done.

I have one of these in the stash, and after seeing yours it will make its way toward the top of the to do pile.

Did the decals perform okay ?

The decals are excellent Wayne, i had no problems with them at all, typically good Revell quality

Looks fantastic,

I built the airfix one many years ago, I can assure you it never looked that good.

Ahh is the Airfix kit a bit of a lemon then? I've just bought one on ebay so would be interested to know your thoughts on it!

No not a lemon, it was more my modelling skill wasn't as good back in the early 90's and the canopy wasn't present. So my crew felt the wind blow in hanging from my bed room ceiling.

Oh yeah I like that. I remember making the Airfix one when it first came out when I was a sprog. I have a Revell one in the stash but didn't really have any immediate plans to build it but seeing this has made me consider it for my next build.
