DH88 Comet Racer - tooling question

Recommended Posts

Back from SMW2015, where I picked up three of the Kellogs kit of this type. Very nice it is too, barring the odd framed wicker canopy!

Who actually tooled it? It looks partly like the Airfix kit but far more refined and better than the Frog one too (nabbed a Novo one plus figures!). I paid a fiver for two and £3 for the third. Wouldn't mind one or two more.

Gawd, I had one of those back in the previous millennium, and it looked superior to the Airfix one (which was the first kit I ever built without any assistance from Dad, fact fans). Both long gone now.

The SBS Model Comet Racers look really tasty, but I would have to get some more experience with resin kits in first to do any of them justice.

There is always the middle ground. We do most of the DH.88 schemes, with an Airfix kit, resin & etch cockpit, replacement resin engine covers, replacement vac-formed canopy (x2) and decals. We also do the cockpit set and canopy as separate items. The canopy might work for the Kelloggs kit, but I'm not sure.

I'm surprised you don't do Dh88 Boomerang- originally to be called Firbeck.

I am going to show some serious ignorance here, Kellogs Kit? :bounce:

Merit still around in 1976??? :hmmm:

Edit: Following link (scroll all the way down) says it was probably produced by Keilkraft
