Cheiftain Mk10 help needed for a tank novice

Hello all

I am an aircraft modeller by 'profession' but I have purchased the TAKOM kit and, having done some research I have a few questions which I hope some of you can answer.

1) I don't know what it is called, but the upper hull has a some sort of guard surrounding it. Is this a water guard or something. On the model it is a simple vertical section, but from photos I have seen it is a piece of U channel section. Is this a modification or standard? Is it U channel all the way around? (Photos: Erik Jan Eskes via Prime Portal)

2) I can't quite work out the antenna fit. I know there is on that it attached to a box on the right hand side of the turret (Clansman?) but where do the others go? How long do they need to be in 1/35?

3) What are the handles between the storage boxes on the hull fenders? There is one each side and they are quite substantial.

4) Where does the electrical lead for the turret spot light plug into? As you can see in this photo it is not connected.

Thanks in advance

Andy,

The spotlight connection plugs into a an armoured junction box just to the right you can see it next to the commanders knee.

handles are the internal fire suppression system, they allow anyone from the outside to set off a series

of fire suppression bottles located in the fighting compartment, not funny if you pull them for a joke...they make your nose bleed !

The U shape channel in the front deck is for the wading kit, it was never used but it exists on all marks, although most later marks

had the rear parts removed.

Clansman VHF antennas are 2m in length, most non command tanks could carry two VRC 353's radios so two antennas could be used.

one antenna lives on the armoured box on the side of the turret and the other to the rear of the turret, check out my MK11 build

that should give you and idea on locations. Rear antenna is behind the loaders hatch next to the winky pot.

Thanks Dan. Would the lead plug into the front or rear? I take it the wading kit fitting is the same section all the way round? Any idea on antenna fit?

Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,

I think that the sockets all provide 28V or 12V DC so It wouldn't matter although I'm sure one of the ex chiefy boys

will be able to tell you,

Radios, I amended my post above to include those, that's something I know about :-)
