pbhawkin
Hi, Is the Blue used in each of these WW2 roundels the same colour? regards
Jamie @ Sovereign Hobbies
Yes they were the same (for a British built aircraft - US built probably used the closest FS match to Oxford Blue)
Selwyn
Yes they were the same (for a British built aircraft - US built probably used the closest FS match to Oxford Blue) Err, apart from the fact the colour was Roundel blue and the US FS colour system came in to use well after WW2? Giorgio N
Roundel Blue is the colour used from 1947 to date. During WW2 the colour was different and simply known as Blue, although it's mentioned as being the same previously used on night bombers as Dull Blue
Magpie22
The British, (RAF), colour Blue and the Australian, (RAAF), colour K3/ 197 Dull Blue are almost identical in shade. The former was specified by the RAF for their national markings, the latter by the RAAF for their national markings. I will steer clear of FS matches and the controversy that surrounds them.
