Popular Post stevej60
Hi folks, second finished build for the day is Airfix's new tool Wildcat and what a beautifull little kit they have given us,there is debate elsewhere on shape issues but to me and I think most modelers It certainly looks like a Wildcat. The only vice the kit has in construction is the under carriage which for me was a bit fiddly but I,m not the most patient so enough said,I lightly weathered her with a light brown wash using a black wash for the flaps, wingfold etc.I only need to add the radio wire when I stretch some more sprue.WIP and sprue shots can be found here and thanks for looking in. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234989568-airfix-172-grumman-wildcat/page-1

John_W
Sure it's not 1/48th? Lovely build. I always think the Wildcat is too fat to fly though, yet it does.

giemme
Sure it's not 1/48th? I was thinking exactly the same thing! Brilliant outcome Steve  And those little new Airfix kits really look good; I just ordered a Canadair Sabre, which is an Airfix new tool too, and impatiently waiting to see how it looks like. stevej60
Very nice, Steve! Would you say that this one sets the standard for 1/72 Wildcats? I think I probably would ,as far as I can remember I,ve built all of the mainstream Kit,s released, and must mention the quality of Airfix's decals on their recent releases. Nice job, looks like a terrific little kit! I thought it was just me that missed painting things (tailwheel).
