Flankerman
She's launched!!! This is my conversion (more of a scratch-build really) using the Mikro-Mir K-Class kit to make the one-off cruiser submarine with twin turrets mounting 5.2in guns - HMS X.1. I lengthened and widened the K4 hull and scratched the casing, bridge and gun turrets - with Milliput for the bulged bow... The WIP is here. Francis Macnaughton
Does that mean you won't be encouraging Micro Mir to do X-1 and M class after all Ken?

Jessica
Of course, now that you've done the conversion they're going to issue a kit. And speaking of that, whose kit is the M1?
Flankerman
Of course, now that you've done the conversion they're going to issue a kit. And speaking of that, whose kit is the M1? I hope they do make a kit - I'll try and persuade them. As for the M.1 - it's a Czech resin kit......... HLJ have stocks Note that it is full hull - despite what is says on the box! They also do M2 & M3 - I have M2 on order, but I decided to forego M3 as it is just a box structure ! Ken
sub-builder
Absolutely stunning great finish looks like a kit build the pieces go together so well. What's next? Another British sub?

Gimme Shelter
Hi Ken A beautifully presented display piece there. I'm no sub expert so can I ask if the tower windows were a sealed watertight compartment that was occupied when submerged or if it was merely used as a weatherproof area when above the waves? I do love those timber brick displays - a great alternative to the kit supplied stand. Regards - John
Flankerman
Thanks for the compliments John..... The 'bridge' is open at the rear - and only used on the surface. Check out this build of a large RC X.1 - I got loads of info for my build from it. http://modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,44444.msg517296/topicseen.html Ken

Darby
What a lovely looking boat. Strange concept those cruiser types. One massive noise short though. Have you done an M2 at all or is that in the pipeline? .
