MPi-KM
Can someone tell me which pre-scored sections of the fuselage to cut out to make a -21?
Jessica
Take out the longest section to make all the short DC-8 variants. F-RSIN makes the engines you'll need. Use this photo from my review to guide your cutting:
stringbag
26 Decals produce some lovely replacement engines as well http://www.26decals.com/epages/62035508.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/62035508/Products/TSR144-06 Chris.
MPi-KM
Thank you both very much. I assume you use the shorter wing tips as well? Edited September 14, 2015 by MPi-KM
bzn20
The undercart bogie track is wider on the -62 &-63,further apart but same length* as the earlier -21 and aswell from the 6ft difference in span there is a shorter Chord on the inbd -21 wing (root),off the top of my head around 5%. * Something in the back of my head says the bogie was different but that might be the way it operated and shouldn't affect the look model wise. bzn20
And the -62...The-63 got the 62's wings area increase too. The 70 series was basically a re engined 60 series.

Agreed! Having just picked up my order for one of each set, they're beautifully cast and are well detailed. Jeff

I ought to have said "Everything after the -62 had the long wings, everything before it had the short wings."

They also look surprisingly similar to BraZ's engines visible here : http://www.brazmodels.com/mcdonnell%20douglas.html , 14th line. Actually, I believe they're identical so perhaps it was a common project from BraZ and 26 Decals?

stevehnz
OK then, while we're busy going , Is the Minicaft -61 kit the best start point for a -52 in 1/144? I'd be a bit keen to do an Air New Zealand -52 using some Old Model decals. Steve Edited September 15, 2015 by stevehnz
