Mike Posted September 9, 2015 Share Posted September 9, 2015 There's been a lot of buzz going around about the new Star Wars movie, and of course as we're a modelling forum, we're interested in kits of the new stuff, and even some of the original trilogy gear.Revell have the franchise in terms of modelling products in the EU, so we've been waiting to see what's coming for a while now, with announcements coming in various forms. They seem to be concentrating on the younger audience so far, with easy kits and snap-together being the watchwords. There are also some skill level 3 kits coming, but I'll post separately on that shortly when I've processed the pics.Here are some pictures of the boxes and the finished models, which I think are all pre-painted IIRC. Mike Posted September 9, 2015 Author Share Posted September 9, 2015 As promised, here is a quick look at the box tops and plastic in the Skill 3 kits, which are a bit more model-like, requiring gluing and painting. Some of the boxtop artwork is a big pixelated, but I guess they'll spruce that up for the real thing, and maybe get some more shots of the built-up kits with some of their new weathering powders and so forth applied to make them look a little more realistic and "lived in". Madmonk Posted September 10, 2015 Share Posted September 10, 2015 I find your lack of decent models disturbing! To say I'm underwhelmed is an understatement. I know we have been spoilt with the Bandai offerings and it is obvious that Revell's target market is the young potential modeller but come on Revell!! The easy kit Millennnnnnnnnium Falcon at £60 is, even with the expected hike in Bandai's prices, going to be more expensive than the 1/144 version Bandai offer and far inferior. It would also appear that the only new offering for modellers is a reboxing of the pocket kits without paint on. These are now being marketed as Level 3 kits, slightly bizarre! All that said I have to applaud Revell for wanting to get a new generation into modelling but not at the lack of serious kits for the more mature builder. Especially considering that you can get the Bandai ones which by all accounts are great. Haven't built one yet but the speeder bike looks like it could find a way into my stash soon Having said all this though, anything that gets more kids into hobby shops and away from computers/consoles cant be a bad thing Draz Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

This Revell stuff is rubbish, and I'd certainly be able to pick up second-hand FM kits cheaper than the "new" Revell reboxings. Typical of Disney to get greedy and bollux up a good thing.
