kpnuts
Hi all well since the citroen is now probably bin fodder I thought I better get on with this (plus christmas is round the corner) (actually I think I ought to give up modelling, I'm obviously crap at it) I know the canvas bit looks as though it dosn't fit but when taped in it all fits makes no difference anyway I'm getting fed up of always ruining models. vontrips
Good cover, looks fine Mr.Nuts, who's been giving you a hard time then? The kits down to 20 quid today as it's Black Friday with the guys you got your kit from (I think). Couldn't resist, even though I'm not keen on the design. kpnuts
Not anyone giving me a hard time, I used Halfords filler primer Halfords primer and halfords black on the Citroen and they reacted and bubbled up ruining the model, I hate Halfords, I know from this kit it is almost impossible to remove the primer. As I said I've had it with mldels.
vontrips
Oh dear, wonder if they've had to change their formulation? I've used their stuff for something like 20 years and only had one problem. I had their gloss black crack on my 1/12th JPS Lotus kit. Only found out after removing it from a storage box after 10 years. I wouldn't be too keen to use their filler primer on a kit as it takes a while to fully cure; even then I'd shoot the grey primer before colour. I modded a Corvette hood years ago and the yellow primer is still perfect, but then I've yet to top coat it. Will try to get pics to confirm. BrianI
Looking great kpnuts - good addition of the canvas roof! :-) Mine is back on track as well now, had a bit of a mental block at the start of the week, but as soon as I started getting the suspension etc painted and fitted, it started to come along nicely! kpnuts
Hi all well I wont be giving this to my daughter. I will be glueing it together to finish it but after the third stripping and respray (must be something in the grey primer (its the only thing I cant get off (Ive used oven cleaner, break fluid, nitromors))) The missus says dont be such a perfectionist she wont notice, you all know what I say to that. colin
Please don't take this as telling you how, but the trouble I find with rattle cans is it's hard to get a thin coat on, it's seems to me all or nothing(although roymattblack seems to do it) looks like the paint has softened the underlying coats and reacted due to a heavy coat going on. Have had this happen to me with cellulose based paints from rattle cans so try and decant and use the airbrush now
kpnuts
Thanks for the advice, will remember it for next time but I'm fed up with this one and anyway I wouldn't have it done in time for xmas.
BrianI
Sorry to hear about your paint issues kpnuts! Hope you can get the kit finished though.
imster
Sorry to hear about your woes on this one, just finish it up and move on mate, dont worry about the finish as its just going to wind you up and possibly make you less enthusiastic about building models.
