kpnuts
Not sure I'm upto that roy, don't have skills like yours, won't be doing much to this on hols Monday just hoping the others get here before then, they are supposed to be here tomorrow. roymattblack
It really isn't difficult to open the doors up. You're more than capable judging by your past builds. Slow scraping with a sharp blade and dental probes (really cheap on Ebay) and the doors will fall out. Make up the 'missing' bits with plasticard. Hinges made from brass or steel rod. I'll post a shortened build of my old Corvette and Testarossa (not here) so you can see how I did it. Roy.
kpnuts
thanks roy you can post them here if you want but I think you are overestimateing my abilities.

kpnuts
As with a master of all things modeling you do make it look deceptively easy, 2amazing models by the way. I may pluck up courage to try it, since this was a bargain price and it really is a free kit since I bought it from the proceeds of the sale of models. So if I ruin it it won't matter too much, actually as I'm typing I've already though of what I would do if I ruined the door, I could leave them off and really distress it turn it into a real rat. kpnuts
Well I know I shouldn't since we are off on hols in a couple of days but here is a start. I've cut one of the doors out, just the boot, the other door and the inners to go.

roymattblack
Ace!!! You'll be glad you've opened it up. I'll be watching with interest, as this car is in my stash and I'll be doing the same. Any idea about colour yet? Roy.
kpnuts
Well, not happy with the revell c6 corvette finish but will be using the marbeling effect I used on the heller kwak Z1 just different colours I was thinking the blue of the box as the main colour with silver showing through then covered with transluscent orange laquer what do you think. kpnuts
Hi all a small update on this I used copper wire for this which I think is a bit too soft the door sags when opened so i think I will have to change it for some other sort of wire,Roy ? I also think I need to move the hinge further back on the door so it clears the body better, but quite pleased for a first attempt at opening a closed door.
roymattblack
Brilliant if this is your first attempt. I use metal rod that is about 1.5mm thick. It's actually from a HUGE box of ex-brazing rod that was given to me long ago. Each rod is a meter long, and there's about 200 in the box...... I have use the earth core from ring mains cable...... Superb work though. I'm chuffed to bits you are giving it a go. You might try making the curved loop a bit bigger to get better door clearance when you open it. Roy. kpnuts
Hi all last update for a week as on hols in the morning Uprated the door hinges, no sag now thought I better check clearances with the internals, as you can see only about 1/2 a mill clearance, that's a lucky one. given her a coat of primer so she will have a week for that to fully cure
Long haired david
I built this kit a couple of years ago having made their 1/25th version some time earlier. I was disappointed when it turned out that the parts count was the same (at least it looked like it) so there is no more detail in the big kit than there is in the smaller scale. Here is my 1/12th. I stripped off the chrome and redid it all with Alclad. and here is my 1/25th (sorry only picture that I have - it went to the US as a christmas present a few years ago). kpnuts
That is a super cool looking build, I must admit I'm a bit disappointed as the Chip Foose Camaro has tubing for the radiator and plug leads and that's an older kit, this one doesn't I know it's only a small thing and I have wire which will do the same, but, as it's only a small thing and would cost revell fractions of a penny to add to the kit, I think that's very poor of them.
