S5 modeller
Hi chaps. Need some advice. I'm working on an su-47 berkut for the what if group build. I'm now close to priming, but I need to clean the surface of the kit. I took my life in my hands and wiped it down with meths, which worked a treat. Got a nice, squeaky clean surface. Now for the problem. Due to zvezda putting a texture on the surface, which I sanded flat, I've done a lot of polishing. I've ended up with polishing crud in the panel lines. After the whipe down most has gone, but some stubbornly remains. What's the best way to get rid of it? I've tried cotton buds dipped in meths, and scrubbing gently, but to no avail. Am I going to have to resort to a scriber to get it out? Hope someone has an idea to help. Thanks. Matt
colin
An old stiff nylon paintbrush or old toothbrush and elbow grease I'm afraid or gently run a needle or re-scriber along the panel lines
Andy Moore
Normally, for getting rid of dust from sanding and scribing, I run some liquid cement into the panel lines which melts the dust away and cleans up any rough edges on the panel lines. mcdonnell
Hello,S5Modeller - At this stage,I would give the model a careful and controlled rinse under the tap and gently brush out the panel lines and recesses with a soft toothbrush, avoiding open canopies and other internal areas.I have used this method many times and found it's worked okay for me.I hope this may be of assistance for you.All the best,Paul.

S5 modeller
Got it sorted now chaps. Used one of the free toothbrushes you get in hotels. Worked a treat gently brushing the panel lines. Thanks for all the help. Matt

Cheshiretaurus
Run a small blob of bluetac along the panel line or other area to pull the crud out.
S5 modeller
Cheers for all the advice guys, there's some good tips I'll be saving for future reference. Though about a good wash, but as I've used perfect plastic, I was scared of washing it off.
