Revell 2008 Ferrari California Closed Top => Completed

Recommended Posts

So I just placed my Italia in the box and started a new Ferrari!

A few weeks ago a store was having a sale on Revell USA kits.

Bought their whole supply... This is one of those kits.

Body and bottum plate were a bit warped but nothing some hot water could fix.

And some more cleanup work then usual but for that low price I won't complain!

Box and parts:

Started with priming the parts but it got to humid to paint...

Storm comming...

This I still have to do.
Could paint a bit more, but don't want to mess things up.

Not sure yet what wheels I'll put under.

Probably the wheels I had planned for the Italia.

The colour of the car will be Ferrari Grigio Silverstone.

Or pearl white with a black top, not sure yet.

Not much yet, but wanted to share my new project!

Nice choice, there a lot of cars being started recently that I have in my stash so I will be watching for tips and tricks. That's a hard choice between colours as both options sound/would look really great, mine when I get round to it will be ferrari blu mirabeau (I have too many red cars in the display cabinets)

Yeah hard choise... Also why I bought the kit twice :D

Finnished painting all parts with their first colour:

Body dosn't look good now, but that will change once the clear is on.

Time to mask most off now and paint the second colour, put decals on the body and clearcoat it.

Did some more work on the California this weekend.

Finnished the suspension and engine.

Just need to glue it in but first need to decide what wheels I will use, then I can see how I will lower the car.

The interior tub is 95% done now to, ochre brown and yellow combo.

Dosn't really show on the photo..

And put the decals on the car and a few 3d logo's.

Time to let the paint dry for 2 days and then paint the flat black.

Looking good I'm doing one of these at the moment, no wip though I find it a bit odd if someone else starts it before me.

I have never tried this bmf stuff but I may just give it a go on this one, the shine you have on the paint work is really top notch aswell

With the side windows I have cut them to simulate having the drivers window open a touch, something different than keeping it normal, I have an obsession at the moment of not keeping the kits as they come

Thanks man!

It has a few duts bits, but nothing major. Have to paint outside so :(

I like seeing wip of the same models. Gives you idea's on what els you could do with the model.

Like the side windows. Nice idea for my next one!

I use the BMF on all light units, it looks just so much better. And real.

In places i can't use BMF, like the brake light i just paint some silver.

Damn I wish I could get a shine like that on my road car kits.

:goodjob:

Ashley

Thanks man!

The clear is 2K gloss from Zero Paints.

What I do is mix up how ZP says you should mix it. And for the final coat I add another dose of thinners.

Makes the gloss lay on more flat.

Not able to do anything today, sick...

Completed the California today!

Good Revell kit, no real problems with this.

Only the decals could be a bit better, but for €5 you can't really complain about it.

The colour is Ferrari Grigio Silverstone from Zero Paints.

The wheels are from C1 models.
