18 Spitfires and 6 Hurricanes will take to the air and 'patrol' over Kent and the Battle of Britain Memorial to commemorate the Battle's ''hardest day''

Although they'll divide into 3 sections of 8 they'll be taking off from Biggin Hill at approx 1pm

I wonder why the group that flew to Portsmouth did not overfly Tangmere? It was an eminent BoB fighter station, and responsible for the air defence of Portsmouth!

As I understand it this flypast was brought together rather quickly with only short notice, perhaps they didn't get clearance to fly other than their main course. The air routes of [southern] Britain are rather crowded.
