vesthepes
Gentlemen As I am almost done with the Iraqi Hunter, it's time to post a new WIP. This one is second in line of the SyAAF next to the L-29. I thought of doing the one from the Ramadan war in '73... The kit is the old Kopro and during the years I managed to collect some aftermarket for it: Neomega cockpit and seat, Eduard interior, SAC metal landing gear, quickboost vents and such and Armory resin wheels. A few years back I did an Algerian Fitter, so no big surprises are expected... The seat looks great: the pit is also nice... After some painting... I've used IP decals from some leftovers, cut them out... I think it's better than I could ever do by hand... To make a BM/BMK out of BKL you need to remove some plastic. The BKL had skids on the landing gear so the wells were larger. A minor surgery... Quickboost vents are too small And that's about it for now. Stay tuned and thanks for looking in. cheers

exdraken
how does the SAC landing gear compare to the kit parts? is it just a copy or would you buy them again? thanks!

vesthepes
Thanks a lot for your support. I hope I'll do this fitter justice... Werner you're right. The SAC LGs are kit's copy. You can do both versions with skids and without. They are also recommended for the Su-17- but I really wouldn't know how correct that is... I think I got 'em cheap somewhere, and I doubt I'd buy them again at full price - not the most needed part... but I do recommend the Armory wheels and the Neomega cockpit if you can get 'em for a good price. Oh yes I almost forgot, what you really want is the Eduard wheel wells doors - I have the BKL ones, but I need the BMK version - the kit doors are huuge, oversized and too thick. Even by trimming them by half makes it no better. Eduard PE contains some parts to detail the LGs a bit and also the wells. I still think some wiring inside is needed. cheers
vesthepes
Just some little work i did on exhaust today Su-7 had a hUGE exhaust. Eduard parts enhance it nicely...
rbeach84
Cool! The AM can really spice it up, if you can pull it all off without a hitch. Really makes more sense for something basic like this kit... good modeling! Regards, Robert
exdraken
I have this set for the Su-17: http://shop.ciromodels.com/1-48/53-c-413-su-17-22-podvozkove-achty.html wonder how similar are those wheelsbays! certainly more similar to the BMK without the skids! vesthepes
I know about this Ciro set, but I never noticed the bay doors are included. That's nice. They certainly look like BM/BMK. I'm pretty sure you can use this on a Su-7 regarding the wells and its doors. The picture on the link is small, can you tell me more about the details in the wells? Do those wires and hydraulics look OK? Edited August 9, 2015 by vesthepes

vesthepes
Well the front bay looks OK, but the main ones are so so, at least judging from the photo. I mean, it's better than OOB... Here's the real deal... http://scalemodels.ru/modules/photo/viewcat.php?id=6228&cid=214&min=12&orderby=dateA&show=12 http://scalemodels.ru/modules/photo/viewcat.php?id=6227&cid=214&min=12&orderby=dateA&show=12 cheers
exdraken
hi, that's what they look like: for me, I think they are quite fantastic! no broken parts, raised detail, etc. but for sure not the 1:1 detail I put 3 example photos here, I don't want to hijack your thread.... maybe you PM me, or I will put them up in a new thread somewhere else...:
vesthepes
No hijacking at all, thanks for posting. I think it's appropriate here on this thread since it can be used on the Su-7. It does look nice. I have a Ciro models MiG-23MF set and I know their stuff is hq...
Breaker
Looking good so far, that exhaust is the business.
harvy5
Nice Atomic Bomber! Quickboost vents are not small, they have the right size, model has some bad shapes .

vesthepes
Thanks for the encouraging words Back with some hard labor... First steps on making the wheels bays look a bit better. And the air brakes. huh, I've never seen them in open position, maybe I'll just make them half closed... fun work anyway till next time...
vesthepes
A few pics on the fitter update...slow progress I've glued on the vertical stabilizer, .., quikboost air scoops - nice improvement over the kit ones. Fitting of the plastic is less than good, but since I was already aware of that, I won't complain too much. Lots of putty and sanding still needed. cheers
vesthepes
The fitter is finally in one piece! lots of adjusting, filling and sanding is needed while working with this kit. Specially around some places where two halves should align closely. Wing fences are a critical spot. Next step will be a strip of plastic along the base of the fences, some kind of a reinforcement. Besides that the wing-fuselage joints need a fat piece of plastic to fill the gap on the lower side of the plane. Huh, I've been delaying the work on the wheel well wiring and details. So far I only used the Eduard PE for the well walls.. I have the BKL version Eduard etched parts to replace wheel wells doors. But since there's a difference between BKL and BMK wheel wells and its doors, I have decided to try and scratch build something closer to the original instead of buying it. This is still in quite a rough state, some cosmetics is needed to make it look more appropriate. Thanks for looking in.
