Number 12(B) Squadron - Another Reprieve

Looks as if Number 12 (Bomber) Squadron, currently operating out of RAF Akrotiri, has received another reprieve and will continue to function and operate until early 2017 - I feel for the RAF planners and engineering staff trying to cope with these regular changes to the long term planning of the RAF ORBAT.

Didn't the Italians initially populate the back seats with pilots as they had no previous two seaters, so no fast jet navs??

Don't think there was any Italian aircrews on 12(B) Sqn?

Never mind unlucky number 13, looks like it's lucky 12 though!

Great to see Tornado's being saved from a premature end, they do seem to have become a good platform for a variety of roles.

It just shows what drives the establishment of the RAF when push comes to shove. I wonder what would have happened if the situation had happened a few months later.

It must have been a near run thing, just the right side of the line. They must have learnt from not being able to use Harrier in Libya in 2011.
