StyrenePilot1970
With a combination of coupons and free shipping, I pulled the trigger on Tamiya's new Mosquito this week. It arrived Thrusday, and instead of letting it molder in the basement with the Tamiya 32nd Mustang and Corsair intimidating me - I decided to buck up and jump in. The build will be mostly out of the box, but I do have a set of Aviaeology RCAF decals and a Pmask insignia mask set I might be brave enough to try. Look Ma, no seams! The tire design is pretty amazing.
StyrenePilot1970
Some of the cockpit components dry fitted together after painting. Wash and weather yet to come.

Ian Suds
Brilliant, thanks for posting this. Looks like another one to follow. Having watched a YouTube video review of this kit it is interesting to see how those tyres built up. Appears, by what you've achieved to be a rather clever method. Nice work so far.
StyrenePilot1970
A little progress today. Steps 1,2 and a third of Step 3 completed. Not sure I am totally happy with the belts - but there they are. Weather and drybrushing complete. Cockpits are my favorite part - looks like I will put that to the test this time!

Ian Suds
Nice work. If I could get belts to look like that I'd be more than pleased. Obviously my standards are not up to yours :)

StyrenePilot1970
Small update tonight. Worked on the drift meter and instrument panel. Decals for the instruments are extremely nice and fit on the back of clear plastic panel with raised discs representing the instrument glass. A piece of photo-etch is then placed over the clear plastic panel, giving the effect of bezels and the panel proper. The drift meter has a log book or map case with a photo-etch strap around it to "hold" it in place. I am still very taken with this kit - even though I have a LONG way to go! Pardon the pics - I didn't realize until just now I didn't have one of my bench lights on. Will correct this in the future!

Grayson
Mine is on back order and will watch your build with great interest. You are doing this kit justice and no mistake. Great work so far.
S5 modeller
Brilliant work. Got mine on order too. Are the harnesses kit items? You also mentioned photoetch, is that in the kit, or aftermarket? Matt Edited August 8, 2015 by S5 modeller
StyrenePilot1970
Photoetch is included in the kit. Two frets. Radiator grills, belts, instrument panels, windshield wipers (!), This kit doesn't want for much. Thanks everyone for all your kind words
StyrenePilot1970
Steps 1-9 are officially done. This includes most of the cockpit, except for the sidewall detail. Next up are the machine guns nested in the nose. I am fairly pleased with progress so far, and careful scrutiny of the instructions has avoided any large scale mishaps. the instrument panel is somewhat a tender affair until all the glue sets, so be mindful of that. Where did I put that gunmetal paint? Thanks for looking!

Ace From Outer Space
Wow, the Tamiya Mosquito really is a stunning kit, and you are doing it justice! I'm tinkering with the old Revell 1/32 Mossie and will be watching this thread for inspiration and ideas to steal! Cheers Viv
