72modeler
Hi! Me, I'm not into modern weenie cookers or supersonic lawn darts, but my best modelling buddy is; wanted me to seek out the concensus as to who makes the best Saab Gripen single-seater in 1/72 scale. I'm thinking it might be the new Revell kit? Need help from the experts on this one. Thanks in advance! Mike
Hook
New Revell is indeed the best of the lot. HTH, Andre
Serelle
Hook is right... the new Revell is the best option in 1:72. Cheers Serelle

Giorgio N
Arent' the differences between the A and C variants limited to some small details like the APU exhaust, some panel lines for the refuelling probe and the fintip pod? If so then an A could be built from the Revell kit with relatively little work

You also have to replace the main wheels that are completely different.

Wonder if there's any resin set for the JAS-39A wheels, I seem to remember that CMK did a few sets for the Italeri kit
Bjorn
Hmm... I don't think so. But if you are interested, ask at IPMS Stockholm's forum http://www.ipmsstockholm.se/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=1. I know there are Swedish builders that have converted Italeri's JAS 39A into C, so maybe they can donate the Italeri wheels.
meindert
The most recent Revell Gripen 1/72 kit is to be prefered. Some thoughts about both Italeri, old Revell and recent Revell kits, have a look here: http://designer.home.xs4all.nl/models/gripen/gripen.htm
Eht1418
I built the Itsleri Gripen years ago and found it to be a fun, easy build.
