Phil Podmore
Hi Everyone, I'm currently doing the Westland Lysander, and it needs to be an all black scheme. I don;t want to do it in Tamiya 'Flat Black' as I don't think this will work 'in scale' so I wanted to canvas opinion on the best 'black' for 1/48 aircraft. Cheers Phil
moaning dolphin
I do like model master interior black acrylic, it goes on satin but turns out nice with a matt over coat. I don't have a WWII model in black but this is my SR71 with that paint and a matt coating. This was airbrushed.
Martian
Tamiya NATO black also gives a similar effect. Martin
Navy Elephant
I'd go with Tamiya X 18 Semi Gloss Black, it air brushes well and gives the best approximation to a SOE Lysander that I can think of.
rob85
Tamiya's Rubber black? I like to use it for night finishes. Rob
The original Kit Builder
Revell 9 Anthracite is a very good shade for overall black and comes in acrylic and enamel.
hairystick
I recently used Tamiya's "Rubber Black" on a 1:48 scale F-117. Very pleased with the result.
Phil Podmore
Thanks! I have Anthracite that I use for the base of tyres, so that seems a good option!
