My Three Days at RIAT 2015 (Now with added Statics!)

Recommended Posts

Goodness! What a teaser for parts 1+2! Excellent shots, the Hind, Hurricane and Hornet are my favourites in this spread, but they're all amazing pics.

Smashing views! If ever I get going again...I'd like to model the Greek F-16 and that 29 Squadron Typhoon... even though they are not my favoured modelling subjects.

Again great pics!

Fantastic pictures, thank you for posting them. As a complete amateur, I took 5400 over 3 days and not one is any where near the quality of these. If I could ask, are these hand held shots?

best wishes

Mick

Brilliant shots and thank you so much for sharing them!

Thanks very much, Mark. I'm pleased you enjoyed looking at them.

Hi Mick. Thanks for the kind words. All the images above were taken handheld with a Nikon D610 and a Nikon 80-400mm AF-S lens with Vibration Reduction turned on. The best advice that I could give would be to perfect your panning technique at faster shutter speeds and as your panning improves, gradually reduce the shutter speed to give the impression of speed. I hope that helps?

Thank you very much, Paul. I appreciate your comments. The sound and smell of freedom!

Very nice images! I get a bit bored with the Red Arrows but I really like your shots of them with the Vulcan. The Ramex Delta split is a real cracker. Thanks for sharing them.

Thank you Latinbear. It was great to see the Ramex Delta on these shores. One of them suffered a bird strike on take off on Sunday and immediately landed, escorted by his buddy gear down overhead..

If you get bored by the Reds, you should see the Swiss PC-7 Team - they haven't even got an interesting name!! :sleep_1:

Thanks again.

Great Photos, Love the Japanese sub hunter.

Thanks magman2. I must confess that I had not even heard of the Kawasaki P-1 before RIAT, so it was great to see (and barely hear) something new!

More excellent pics, great to see the Atlas/Grizzly hoiking it around the sky. Fantastic shots, thanks for sharing these.

Thanks Parabat. The A400 display really had to be seen to be believed! There was an RAF Atlas C.1 on static display that the public could walk through. It almost had the smell of a new car!!
