Truro Model Builder
You know, I like to think of pilots as being reasonably intelligent. However, every so often, something happens which makes you wonder: http://www.irishtimes.com/news/ireland/irish-news/pilot-who-crashed-helicopter-near-pub-released-without-charge-1.2286516 Lots of chat here about it. Looks like his peers are less than impressed: http://www.pprune.org/rotorheads/564659-helicopter-crash-longford.html What a muppet. I'm not a helicopter pilot and even I could tell him it was never going to happen.
Jeepboy
.....why oh why oh why??? Unless there was an emergency they must have been desperate for a pint beforehand and a change of clothes afterwards It's bad enough dealing with insurers after scratching the paint on the car - can you image trying to fill in the paperwork that little scratch? Panzer Vor!!!
It's the buildings fault it's in the way Definitely nothing wrong perfect landing till the building gets in the picture I'd sue the landlord if I was the pilot
Nigel Foster60
It looks like nobody got hurt? If so it is just something to put down to experience. One that says, must not do that again! Did the publican give him a pint?

noelh
In a further irony that pub is a gentle stroll from the nearby airfield. I know this because I've landed there and wandered down the road for lunch in the Rustic Inn. No need to bring a helicopter. Interestingly the pub owner also owns the airfield. In a further twist the passenger is a noted air display and aerobatic pilot who is based at the airfield. I know him well. He was due to fly at an airshow I was at this afternoon. But unsurprisingly was a no show. Ought to know better is a phrase that springs to mind. But you might wonder if that little stunt was tried before perhaps with a Robinson 22?? Jonners
How's about "utterly unnecessary, completely avoidable and cretinously stupid"? Just the considered opinion of a professional rotary pilot and flight safety officer who makes a living by HAVING to hover very close to unforgiving objects... I can't think of a valid reason why anyone would even consider putting a helicopter down in that location. Jon
