Airfix's large Typhoon

Recommended Posts

Nice kit to build (not to mention big!!!) I added a few bits of extra wiring to the engine (although not much - the engine is pretty much out of the box) and the gun bay for interest.

Added extras are fabric seatbelts and airscale(?) cockpit details.

The only problem I had with the kit was having to sand the seam line off nearly every part. Also the landing gear is weak. I decided to open a couple of panels to show off the cockpit and oil tank.

Did I mention that it is a big kit??

Delighted be the first to say it. That is a lovely model, that in some photos looks real. It actually looks like metal. I have zoomed in on some photos and only a pedant would criticse the work. 5 stars!

Incredible. I'm trundling through this at the moment. Keep meaning to start a WIP but when I start one I get so far then loose the urge to complete it :(

I won't be able to get it anywhere near this quality though.

Hi Logical,

If you plan to keep some of the cowling panels on (for the shark mouth decals etc) I would recommend that you check the fit before glueing. I had to trim quite a bit of the back of some of the pieces to make them fit together well,

I considered half panels on one side. But I love the lines of the tiffie. So I'm going all engine panels on. Leaving gun bays open though. Only problem I've had so far is some of the Ip decals fell off when I put the front on. So need to find replacements. Just can't justify the airscale set for 4 small decals :(

Which decals are you missing. I can have a look to see if I still have them and send them to you. I used a couple on another build but should still have most
