Hi all,

Not usually a car modeller but out and about today I was in an Auto store that had some kits and I fell for a 1/16 Academy Minicraft kit of a 1933 Cadillac V-16 Town Car for £30. Had a look around t'internet for any reviews or build threads and have failed to turn up anything so thought I would ask here if anyone has built this one or knows of Reviews/Build threads that they could point me to.

Also picked up an Italeri Bugatti Royal Coupe Napoleon (Stunning looking car) for £20 and likewise any information, tips, build threads would be much appreciated.

Compare that to my build of the Entex version of the kit here which I bought off eBay and found broken and missing hardware (hinges and tubing).

Is the Entex the same kit? Nice build despite the missing parts and age of the chrome  I think I will need to do some research as to what colours they came in as I find the black a little too sombre

Yes it's the same kit released in the late 70's. Was also released by Revell in 1982. Cadillac only made 3 cars and I believe they were all black.

My build thread is here

Thanks for that link, I will give it a thorough looking over prior to starting on this beastie. Hopefully my kit won't be quite so troublesome as it is a box-fresh all still in original sealed bags kit. Lord knows how long this had sat on the shop shelf before it met me

First off I am trying my hand at the Italeri Bugatti Royal Napoleon that I bought at the same time. I want to do as good a job as I can on this magnificent beastie and the Bug should be good practice.

The Bugatti looks like a good kit and should go together nicely. I look forward to your WIP :) And good luck with the Caddy, I think I was unlucky with that one!

The Cadillac would originally have been by Gakken and was reboxed by Entex (for the US market ?) in the late 70s. The moulds then apparently went to Minicraft, as did a host of other kits boxed by Entex (more 1/16 Gakkens like the Lincoln Town Car, ex-Hubley RR Silver Cloud, TR.4 and MB 300, Bandai 1/48 light planes, etc), with Revell also having a good number of them in their range for two to three years. If you search for Gakken Cadillac, you may get some additional results.

Did they really make a TR4? In what scale?
