Homebee
How to rejuvenate an old product. Facing the announced 1/48th L-39 kits from AMK (http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235014234-148-aero-l-39cza-albatros-by-trumpeter-release-in-2017-2018/) and Trumpeter (http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235014234-148-aero-l-39cza-albatros-by-trumpeter-release-in-2017-2018/), Special Hobby has at last decided to update its L-39 Albatros kit with the development of a dedicated injected canopy to replace the original as outdated vacuform one. Is it not too late? Will it be available separatly? That's the questions. Source: http://www.specialhobby.net/2017/01/pripravujeme-vstrikovane-kabiny-na-l-39.html V.P. Homebee
- ref. SH48167 - Aero L-39ZO/ZA Albatros Release expected in June 2017 Source: http://www.specialhobby.net/2017/05/sh48167-aero-l-39zoza-148-boxart.html Quote Aero L-39ZO/ZA in 1/48 (SH48167) – boxart Probably this June we will start selling our 1/48 model of Aero L-39ZO/ZA, cat no. SH48167. The mouldings in this reboxing are the same with the earlier MPM kit, now they will be accompanied by a completely new injected clear canopy. The original kit had the canopy and other clear parts vacuum formed. The decal sheet will offer markings for a Thai machine and up to four other liveries which haven´t been determined yet. The possibilities are rather diverse – pre 1990 Czechoslovakia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, East Germany, Libya, Iraq.... box art V.P. BushBrit66
Hopefully they will sell the canopy separately. The kit is fine but the vac one has yellowed badly. S

On with the topic; sad that there's still the need to resort to CMK resin if you wanted to have some intake trunks and stuff with this kit.

SleeperService
Given how easy it is to damage canopies I'm surprised that more manufacturers don't sell them as a separate item. The vac-form in my old MPM one is a curious yellow colour and very brittle.
DIO
Hey! This is not complete! There is a part missing between the front and rear canopies! A little bridging item, where the separator is located (included). This is strange! Edited June 28, 2017 by DIO

ABeck
Yes, Björn is right, just received my 3 canopies which saves my L-39s from being thrown away one day or other... Each set comes in a seperate hard card-box so that there is no damage during delivery. Very good idea by SH! be
