Curtiss Hawk 81-A-2 1/72 Airfix

Recommended Posts

My latest completion is the Airfix Curtiss Hawk, WiP here.

A nice easy build with only a few fit problems on the nose. Build to the standard AVG Flying Tigers scheme painted with Vallejo Model Air and my first use of Humbrol Dust wash (I like it).

Smashing.....They always look better witht the wheels up IMHO.

Thanks Sarge - I agree! :)

Good job there Ced :coolio: nice work. I think the Dust Wash looks better than a dark wash on the Airfix panel lines, but I'm not sure it has won me over... :hmmm:

Cheers,

Stew

Thanks Stew - I'm not sure I'll be using the dust again soon, it's a bit 'dirty' for me* :)

Looks good to me.

Thanks Simon :)

Excellent build Ced, like it :goodjob:

Thanks Simon :)

Nice one Ced. I enjoyed the wip too. I look forward to your next build :goodjob:

Thanks Greg. 'T Tommy' Dambuster on the desk!

Tasty!

Thanks Mitch :)

Looks a cracker Ced!

Thanks Steve :)

Top work Ced she looks great. I am on holiday at the moment and picked up one of these in a local shop last week. I have got any tools with me to start a build but reviewing your work has given me some inspiration for when I get home.

Thanks Jaime! I've just started my next WiP thread here - Dambuster 'T Tommy', the aircraft that took Johnny Johnson to the Sorpe and, thankfully, back again. Your company on this journey will be appreciated!

That's a fine looking build by any standards, I like the look of it a lot. Great job Ced.

Thanks Nigel, you are very kind!

Nice one! Like the flying shots.

Regards,

Adrian

Thanks Adrian. this will go on the ceiling with the others so it's good to get an idea of the best angle for the dangle :)

Thanks Davek - I hope the holiday goes well and good luck with the kit!

Very nice job ced! So much so I may buy the kit!

Great wip as ever!

Rob

Thanks Rob - your company appreciated as always :)

Very nicely weathered....

Thanks Leon, my first try at Humbrol dust wash. I'm never sure about 'spoiling' a nicely finished kit but this was a good opportunity to try it out.

Very cool Ced!

Thanks Cookie!

OK chaps, lets get over to Tommy! :)

Great how much cockpit detail is still visible - those belts really pop. Enjoy your 'action background' for your photos too.

Cheers,

Mike

I will follow your new build with much interest, as it is also in my stash for a future build. It seems you are always a step ahead of me in kit building but that's to my advantage, as I'll be able to learn from your WIPs :)

Cheers
