Gremlin56
Wow Wallace, what a big pair of wheels you have got..... Both shows are looking great Gremlin. Simon. Hi Simon, your post made me take another look at the photo of Wallace. It does look rather strange on second thoughts Blimey, you make that sound easy but I think it must have been a very tricky job. Well done anyway. Nigel Good morning Nigel, really wasn't too difficult to respray the parts. Making it look well used will be a different matter I think Edited June 27, 2015 by Gremlin56
CedB
Looking good Julian - the paint finish on the motorbike and sidecar is particularly impressive! Oh, and the 88's coming along nicely too!

Oh, and the 88's coming along nicely too! Hi Ced, thank you ! My first attempt at using a Tamiya rattle can. I have rather mixed feelings too, less control than an airbrush and it resulted in a couple of "warts" on the build that need more attention today. It is an amazingly "eye-poking" red though so just what the doctor ordered
Brundledonk
I see you decided to go with the darker grey in the cockpit, I hope it wasn't too much of a pain working around the etch that was allready fitted (it looks nice and neat in the pics mate) Lovely shiny finish on the bike too ! It looks like a Wallace is giving the nuts at good Polish lol Pete

You are the second to suggest good old Wallace is doing rather nasty things to the tyres I'll take a side snap today to put all the rumours of Wallace's deviant behaviour to rest

I just hope doesn't show any of his blue veined variety lol ! Pete

I have the photographic evidence that his pose with the Dunlops is nothing but innocent fun
Gremlin56
27/6 update: More progress on the side panels of the Ju: I popped down to the "Luchtvaart Hobbyshop" near Schiphol this morning to see what hobby necessities they had in stock: First off some inspirational literature: A set of HGW microbrushes and the Great Wall FW 189 with ski's My sets of drills arrived from China today as well, ( www.banggood.com , I just love the name they chose ), 6 Euros and no postage fee: And last but not least the side show: I'll start off with the evidence that Wallace is behaving himself. See, he is just being helpful holding onto the Dunlops to stop them rolling all over my workbench: And some more progress on the bike and sidecar: By some strange coincidence Mrs. Gremlin56 came home with a baguette and a nice selection of cheeses, (do I hear the music from the Twilight Zone in the background?), and an excellent Picpoul, (sometimes called the Chablis of the South). Hey Lads, doesn't get much better than this Edited June 27, 2015 by Gremlin56
CedB
Wallace is innocent! Thanks for the photo... although he looks pretty 'armless BTW be careful of the drills - Procopius warned me that they break really easily, and he was right, of course. Enjoy the cheese and wine

Of course Wallace is innocent, a very upright citizen

longshanks
Hi Julian, Making steady progress there, glad you've sorted your colours. Nice collection from your LHS The micro drills are worlds apart from the normal HS jobbies & I've broken more by careless handling than drilling Kev PS I hope your not modelling post wine

Nice collection from your LHS The micro drills are worlds apart from the normal HS jobbies & I've broken more by careless handling than drilling Kev PS I hope your not modelling post wine It's all about carefully balancing the intake with the model building Kev Don't want Mrs. Gremlin56 to find me with a mixing cup stuck to the end of my nose Actually I did make some further progress yesterday evening, will get the pic's up sometime today. Strange plastic though, paint stays put like a limpet on some parts but on others it peels off if you look at it
CedB
"Strange plastic though, paint stays put like a limpet on some parts but on others it peels off if you look at it" I had the same problem and found that a quick sanding helped just to get rid of the oily, shiny surface. HTH Hi Ced, yes, I remember the troubles you had during your W & G build. The acrylic paint seems to give the most problems, the Tamiya rattle can stuff and enamels seem to bite into the plastic but the acrylics just seem to form a skin. Just a case of "gently, gently, catchee monkey", (well, and a load of repaints of course )
Biggles87
I seem to have slept through this Julian, it's looking very good so far, well up to your usual high standard. The Ju88 looks good too. John

Gremlin56
28/6 update: More progress adding the Eduard detail parts to the starboard side panel. Not quite there yet but making headway. The lower fuselage part has been fitted to the starboard fuselage half. Fit was beautiful, no problems at all: Work also proceeded on Wallace's bike: Nice high gloss motorcycle

Gremlin56
Great detailing and finish on the motorbike Julian - especially the seat that looks just like leather Thanks Ced, Citadel Chaos Black, best thing since sliced bread Really is a great black color, nice sheen to it and you can stop and continue brush painting with any noticeable difference in texture. When sprayed you get another texture so you can do a lot of fun things with it. The seat on Wallace's bike is hairy stick work, not airbrushed.

Great job on Wallace and Grommit also Hi Bernd, thank you. The Eduard set is a nice extra. It is an extremely big bird though and the Heinkel 219 is even bigger. Think I'll be doing some wing clipping to be able to store them anywhere.
