Was listening to Chris Evans this morning....yes I know...

He was on about testing a LeFerrari at Dunsfold this morning, they were going for a lap record. The driver phoned in and said he might not be able to do it as a VC 10 had just landed and was sitting on the circuit.

Looks like the bird it still being kept warm. Does anyone know why/what?

VC-10 K.3 ZA150/J now resides at Dunsfold having flown in there for preservation on 24 September 2013. She has not flown since but it may be that she is able to ground run?

I saw her coming in to Dunsfold when she retired, and frequently see her when I'm visiting customers on Dunsfold Park.

She's owned by Brooklands Museum and is frequently moved around the Airfield.

Other aircraft with her include a Mil-24, AW Seahawk, 747 as seen in Casino Royale with B-52-esque engines, a Dakota, Hunter T7 in Raspberry Ripple.

I took this photo of Dunsfold from the cabin window as we approached Gatwick on Thursday 4 June.......

The VC10 is parked on the right.

Re Chris Evans 'record' attempt - it was shown on TFI Friday - Channel 4 last night - it was an attempt at the SLOWEST lap of the test track - by his mother in an invalid electric carriage.

Something like 17 minutes in total.

It was 'let slip' by guest Lewis Hamilton that she didn't go all the way round the track - just some camera trickery.

Go and stand on the naughty step and retune the radio to another station straight away

The plus side is with retirement in a fortnight, I won't have to listen to the breakfast show anymore whilst at work. :coolio::sleep_1:

As has been said, with the retirement of the Vulcan, that will mark the end of the All-British four jet engined aircraft in our skies.

What an epitaph to our aviation industry.

We still have the BAe 146!

I`ll get my coat,

No coat required Tony, if it's good enough for HRH to fly in then everyone else can do so. The UK aircraft manufacurers just don't push themselves like the US companies do (slush fund not a big)...

146 has American engines. I did say All British.

Fair play,.....I thought that it had RR engines but jets aren`t really my thing, especially passenger things!

Cheers
