foxy Posted May 29, 2015 Share Posted May 29, 2015 Hi well these two tanks are the same for some minor difference's. One being a land Recce tank and the T40 an Amphibious one. As you will see there are some difference's. First its the T30, this come's with some PE as well as decals. Pictures. I am think on the lines of this for the T30. T40. Reminds me of the Japanese tanks I built some time ago. Maybe they got the idea from each other in there early conflicts. The chassis is strait forward, but placing the wheel supports is tricky, there very flimsy, and some had to be reinforced with plastic card strip's. The left to dry for 24hrs. Basic frame made up. The tracks come in singles, so some work there to make up the full chain. The vents have to be placed in before assembly of the hull. Here shows the PE used for this kit, all come's with the kit, have already primed the PE with Tamiya primer. Then its a primer next. Not a bad kit to build, if you don't mind the track links. foxy Posted May 30, 2015 Author Share Posted May 30, 2015 'Yeh me to Beefy mate', Might find an excuse one day lol.Cheers SS, yep these little gems go together so well.Well sprayed two coats of Russian green and added tracks. painted these with Tamiya grey iron, then its AK track wash.Tracks all on.Turret guns are little gems in themselves.With care they move too.Then after a wash and then some cleaning up, on goe's the three other colours.Figure just for show at the moment, have others in the pipe line with Hornet heads.Foxy 4 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I know not everyone will agree but I'd be happy to put up with the slight loss in detail and have link and length tracks with a pre-moulded sag rather than have the faff of trying to wrap glued lengths around the wheels. Those Russian light tanks did have inconsiderately small track links. Mostly resin one's. Andy. that's the price of scale, but once you get going its not that bad, the hardest is joining up the first two links, once done, its surprising how quick it becomes when two makes four and so on. I have plenty of kits in that scale to build, but none that would compare with this ESO kit. TBH, nothing compares to that ESO kit.....I've wanted one for ages, just to remind me that whatever I'm currently building (& thus moaning about), really isn't that bad! The scariest thing I've handled so far were 1/72 T-26 links (on a Fiat Ansaldo M13/40), so positively massive compared to the TKS tankette! foxy Posted June 3, 2015 Author Share Posted June 3, 2015 Ok next its the T40.This is an amphibious version of the T30.So the superstructure will be similar to the T30.The differences will become apparent in the pictures.But the solid wheels is one.To the chassis.Made up the basic parts and added some PE.Not added the propeller just yet.A coat of primer to the PE and later some green primer once the top hull is in place.A picture of the captured tank I might do, or a Finnish captured one.That's it so far.Cheers foxy Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

foxy Posted June 8, 2015 Author Share Posted June 8, 2015 Cheers Kev, Dan and Sgt S.I have decided to make this a German captured one, this was taken early in the invasion of Russia and sent back to a workshop for repair and a paint job.Then issued to the 1st Panzer Div as a recce tank in Von Klests Army.The paints I used for the colour and shading are:-Vallego in all, but some Life color for the wheels etc.First after the green primer I added some Vallego Russian green.Then used the grey colours for the final coats.This picture should give you some idea of the layout of the propulsion system and rudders plus the paint colour. Tracks are on and now working on the upper structure which is near as dam it the same as the T30. So the next pictures will be when its together and Decals added. foxy Posted June 13, 2015 Author Share Posted June 13, 2015 Right got the T40 near done with just some weathering and finish the figure for the turret.As this was so near the T30, I have not shown the full build,(might bore you!!!).Note this is a captured Russian to get away from the green and white so many dislike!Note the MG34 instead of the Russian one.
