Radleigh
What am I not looking at? Is there a Braille version of this post? I'm rubbing over my screen, the dried food splatter tells me I can see 4 Spitfires..
Mike
I think what it's really telling you is that you need to stop talking with your mouth full & clean your screen
tc2324
What am I not looking at? Is there a Braille version of this post? Very subtle whiffery from the Wooksta. Obviously all PR Spit`s, but notice one has a contra rotating prop, one has a bubble top and I think there may be wing shape differences on the others? The wooksta V2.0
I'll reply properly later, but it helps if you open the Spitfire pic in a new window.

Paul Bradley
OK, I've opened the window, but there's a chilly draft coming in and I can't see any Spitfires, just a few clouds. Now what do I do? Nice stuff, Wook - love the Indian T.61!
The wooksta V2.0
An explanation of the top photo. Left to right: Spitfire PR.X trials aircraft. Airfix XIX with Freightdog PRXI nose. I kept the tail and the original canopy and added a contraprop, having it with one of the very powerful Merlins that Rolls Royce were developing near the end of the war. PR.XI Lowback Heller XVI fuselage and tail with an Airfix XIX wing that was spare, nose built up with filler and scrap plastic. The fuselage is twisted, one of the later Heller ones in black plastic that warped to hell and back. Consequently, I couldn't get it straight but finished it off anyway. The ginger stepchild. I much prefer the lowback XIX instead. PR.XII Airfix XIX with the Freightdog mk VIII tail. Quick cut and shut due to criticism (wrongly) that the Airfix XIX is too short. The engine cowling upper bulge is a Fujimi 19 underwing blister. PR.X Trials Special Hobby PR.X but utilising a 19 canopy. They had to try out that pressurised canopy for the XIX somewhere!
mike romeo
Hey, Lee! Just noticed this thread. I'm late to the party as usual! The Spits? Lovely - all of them. I had just about convinced myself that the third one had a single-stage Griffon and I was right! Now what about another one with clipped tips in a 'dicer' pink scheme, relying on speed low down for survival? Oh, or a pink FR. Mk XII in the same scheme. (I was about to add that I don't charge for my brilliant ideas, but I'm guessing you'll probably already have one of each built.) Keep up the good work. regards, Martin Edited June 6, 2015 by mike romeo
Learstang
A PR.XIX in the pink scheme - now that would be nice! Nice job on those PR Spitfires! Regards, Jason

mike romeo
Waaaay ahead of you guys! More PR Spits will be posted in due course... And we would be disappointed if you weren't! However, now the idea of an FR.XII has come to me, I think I know what my next Whiff will be . . . . regards, Martin Edited June 7, 2015 by mike romeo

The wooksta V2.0
Now, I don't know about you, but I think that at this time of night, I'm going to post some more Spitfires! This was a salvage job after buying a load of part started Spits on ebay. I think the guy was originally aiming for a mk XII as it's an Airfix Vb with a Frog Griffon grafted on. It's now a Griffon engined PRIVg. Unlikely ever to see the day again at a show as I think the finish is awful. This was an experiment to see if lightning could strike again. It's an old tool Airfix mk Ia fuselage married to a modified Airfix PRXIX wing, u/c and canopy. Resin IX tailplanes and rudder, Aeroclub prop, and Airfix IXc exhausts. It's a rebuilt PRIV with a Merlin 32, intended for the training units late war and this is a survivor in post war service as a hack. Two shots of an FRXII built from the Xtrakit XII. One of my least favourite of the finished work. The kit didn't want to go together and the finish isn't too clever. Unlikely ever to see daylight again. Another shot of the PRXII seen upthread. Two shots of an FRXIVc. Two shots of the low back PRXIX. Basically, a spare AZ mk XVIII fuselage married to an MPM XIX for everything else. Really pleased with this one as it was a fairly easy conversion, although sorting out a canopy was a right arseache. Three shots of an early PR XIX sans pressurisation basking in the late afternoon sun. Finally, one of my favourites. Clipped contra 19, intended for fast low level recce, hence the late war upper surface colours and the low level camera.
