This was a stocking filler from my eldest at Christmas and it,s been in and out of it,s box for months till I got her finished today,a lovely little kit which airfix are practically giving away brought back a lot of memories of building their original little sailing ships as a kid. Thanks for looking.

AdrianMF
That looks great! It's a lovely little kit, although I have to say I bought a "Cutty Sark" alongside mine, and it's clear that moulding technology has moved on considerably in the last 60 years! The rigging was easier than I thought it was going to be, with the help of a little jig made from the sprue frame of the kit: I cut a wide notch on one side, for the lines that bunch together at the top, and a series of narrow notches at the bottom to hold the lines in place at the bottom. I wound the thread between these two sets of notches to make the verticals. Then I just wound thread round and round the sides to make the steps. After that I brushed dilute PVA over the whole lot so there was a little white blob on each intersection, which would dry to clear. If you cut with scissors the right way round you can cut the edges of the steps flush with the outer vertical. And you get one on the front, one on the back! The rope was brown thread run through some PVA to de-fuzz it. This shows my trial pieces with fuzzy raw black thread, including a piece of thin acetate with the rigging drawn on. I remember Airfix used to supply printed acetate rigging in the 1960s. It might be something different to do whilst you are waiting for something to dry. Jockster
Never mind that Steve, if I'm right in thinking that you have a motorbike then blu-tac the ship to one of your mirrors overnight. Come morning it'll be covered in the finest rigging imaginable!
