Flying Legends Air Show, Duxford

Wish I was! Can't afford it this time round. I suggest you have some kinda plan if you're only going on the Saturday, the best viewing spots get taken quickly. I find it's best to go the day before and see the museum exhibits then and then you can concentrate on the air show day stuff, like the flightline and traders before the air show starts.

thanks

Thanks Mike.

In fact I went to Duxford already once, in 2005, and I saw the museum then.

I'll go as early as possible, visit the flightline, and then see if I do a quick pass In the museum, or wait a bit till noon?

Up to you, it depends on if you want to be at the front for the air show. There have been changes at the museum since 2005 and there is talk of the land warfare hall closing down.

thanks

Traffic from the M11 will get priority. The police don't like tailbacks on the motorway. You can normally get into the carparks before the official opening time.

Thanks, I'll try to be up very early.

Is the M11 a new motorway?

Can't remember if I drove on a motorway in 2005, from the airport to Duxford.

Buy the way, anything regarding our hobby at the air show? Don't think so, but maybe some bookshop?

One of the highlights of the last time was when I saw "Stapme" Stapleton in person.

That was just great.

Hannants will be there and usually offer a 10% discount on all orders for collection from the show. Aside from that there are a number of bookshops and traders selling kits.

When you leave the airport, head west along the A120 and you will join the M11 at junction 8. Head North, DX is J 10.

Have a look on Google Earth.

There will be trade stands with books and kits, plus other stuff. Beer :drink: and 'proper English food' :fool:

Thanks, I should be ok, I'll have a GPS this time.

Didn't have one last time, this is certainly why I didn't come across M11!

duxford is about 20 mins from Stansted via the M11 (unless there is an accident or bad traffic) The large round near stansted is a bit of a nightmare but as long as you keep to the right lane you will be fine. Remember you want M11 north (my wife took us southbound one year from stansted) and it is nearly 15-20 mins to the next junction to turn around (harlow).

I will hopefully be there one of the two days (been given permission by the missus)

I hope that you all have a great weekend,.....lucky things,............if you have never been before then be prepared for non stop warbirds coming at you from every direction followed by the large Balboa at the end,...........when the engines finally stop your ears will be ringing on the way home! With a bit of luck the weather will stay fine too so don`t forget the sunscreen,

Cheers

Tony

Edit- Not the best line up of participants ever and a couple of Hurricane`s have pulled out but there are three Spitfire Mk.I`s, two Curtiss P-36`s, the wonderful Blenheim Mk.If and a superb looking Seafire Mk.III wearing BPF markings,......worth the admission fee alone!

Here is the official participants list;
