Krupp Titan 1/24

Thought I'd share some pictures of my Krupp Titan build's status quo.

Wiring and piping, decals and a few things more were scratched. The engine is a fast CA-glue-fit (later on I'll explain why) and will be completely refitted later.

The chassis was extended twice, about 2 inch total. One example:

It is a very nice kit indeed, and the engine is an impressive piece even without add-ons.

It got stuck when I tried my own-devised and way too difficult 'lighting technique'. Hell of a step to take, and I never did. 

 

Meanwhile your Büssing looks great. I found the website I referred to in your topic, about the original plan to produce more trucks in this Revell series. Have a look here...

Thank You Roy vd M for info. Which was very interesting .All that work to make models as good as possible, then they end up in my hands ha ha. Re your build of Krupp that's a shame it looked so good. Enjoying the Bussing build so much I have just won  an auction on E bay for the Krupp Titan .(mind I was the only one bidding) Notice in your build that you extended the chassis by a couple of in's or cm was this after the rear wheels?

Hi £ 34-99 including postage One for the future methinks.Have'nt

 got a lot in the stash but Telford is coming up in a few weeks.Could have got it there last year,but such a large box did not fancy carrying it around.

Also, the tank needs to be repositioned (if you are going for extra realism)... 

 

 

All of this, plus explanation (in Dutch) in paragraphs #209-#302 of the referenced topic. 

 

Some dimensions of use:

 

- the distance between both axles is 1,33cm. too short (fortunately in a great spot for correction);

- the distance between rear axle and end of chassis is 1,7cm. too short (fortunately in an even better spot);

- the distance between the rear axle and end of bed is approximately 0,92cm. too short. 

 

So in total the rig is 2,25cm. too short, whereby the chassis needs to be 'stretched' a bit more than the bed.

Roy: let me just say "wow". I can read Dutch quite well so I took a peak into your post from the link you provided... I'll have to take the rest of the week off to read all of it! I think it's safe to say you're not one for cutting corners 🙂

Roy thank you so much for heads up to your build. Brilliant work.Sure mine will not turn out anywhere near as good,but that's ok at my age i have learnt to except my limitations. I would like to attempt the  length increase  of truck otherwise it is just the Bussing with a different cab. Will be getting kit delivered in next couple of days & am sure things will become clearer then.Intend making it as a well worn truck used for demolition clearance . Have ideas on lengthening  load bay but if that is beyond my abilities could make it a modified steel sided one, or a flat bed like some used by RAF That is for the future though, do not intend it to be at least another 3 or 4 model builds . @Old John You could always add a Hanomag trailer (that was the third part of the antique truck project Revell had going in the '90s... see here). You mentioned you're heading to Telford... I found one trailer there a few years ago. Had bought two because I wanted to make a combination of the Krupp towing two trailers (which was not unusual in Germany at that time). 

 

If you want to make something different and you like scratchbuilding, there's loads of possibilities with the Krupp Titan. This book provides plenty of inspiration, showing numerous exotic versions of the Krupp. 

 

 

 

There's one for sale here for example. Then again, just making the kit is rewarding too, especially if you're going to extend the frame. Just have fun, that's all that matters.

Hi Roy thank you yet again .Will look out for trailer at Telford. You never know I may be lucky. Right about the fun aspect of modeling.Re started after a 40 year gap after wife passed 4 years ago.Much changed in hobby since then,including me. Back in the day I used to make 1/72nd aircraft Do wonder a times what my modeling skills would have been now if I had continued. Not that important as it is mostly to help pass the time,though I do like to make them as good as my still improving skills will allow
