Mike Esposito
Starting with the minicraft md-80, can one make this conversion? Are resin engines available? I believe shortening of the fuselage is also required. Thanks Edited April 25, 2015 by Mike Esposito
feoffee2
Hi Personally I would start with the airfix dc9 as the md80 wings are wrong and so are a lot of other features of the md80s compared to a 717. If you have an airfix dc9 you could try the ozmods conversion which has the engines and tail although the engines I believe are wrong. Another option is to modify a set of v2500 engines off a revell kit or the md90 conversion set from braz. The airfix fuse is the correct length as well. Paul J
The 717 to me is still a DC-9 with a couple new bits bolted on. Sorry but Its what I think.
Skodadriver
The easiest way by far to build an accurate 717 is the PAS Models kit http://pas-decals.com/index.php/product/view/4/
Jessica
And if you haven't got that one, there's a Contrails kit which isn't bad.
Ed Russell
There's also an Ozmods one (engines too small) as well as the Contrails (engines only slightly too big). The Fly kit is the best starting point but needs some work.
pinky coffeeboat
Agree with Skodadriver, the PAS models kit is the best and easiest way. If I remember right (and its been over 6 months since I looked at any of my models, being overseas with work) the only problem I found was the vortilon under the wing was incorrectly shaped. But other than that, it looks nice and has some fine engine details. I bought the Hawaiian boxing with a nice set of Draw Decals included.
