A Gift for You Petrol Heads from a Wingnut!

Hello all,

I'm not a car nut by any stretch, but I do appreciate vintage machinery of all sorts.

This weekend, the technical museum here in Brno has opened the doors to their repository of vintage cars and trucks to the public. Along with the museum's own machinery, a few other preservation groups brought some treats along.

Here's a sampling of what was on hand today:

A Tatra 57 roadster from the late 1930s

A 1951 Triumph Renown

A Praga RND bus from 1949

Skoda 120 S Rally from 1971

A selection of fire trucks built from the Skoda 706 RT series

FGL LF 16 Sachsenring; a 1960s East German design

I've only ever made it to Prague but have some work colleagues in Brno, and would love to go there one day.

Those are SPLENDID looking vehicles and LOVE them..

I have a friend in Austria who literally buys old dilapidated buses like the one above and does them up ..having to build everything form scratch as they are almost all gone in their body works etc..and then sells them.... not bad days work eh...

Fantastic collection of 'old shutters'...I use the words with affection!

If anyone gets the chance, look out for the engineering museum in Budapest. Amazing collection of more weird and wonderful stuff!
