Duxford May Airshow

Afternoon, All.

I've just had a peek at the Flying List for next months Duxford Show and I have to say, I'm very underwhelmed by it all.

I fully appreciate that these are very hard times in which to undertake any airshow and I'm sure that Duxford's management had tried their hardest, but - for my money - there really is very little on the programme I haven't seen 15 times before.... There are some folk who have never been before and they will take a very different view, I'm sure, but I am speaking as someone who has been going to Duxford for years.

For the entrance fee, I'm not really sure this will be worth going to, to be frank.....

What does anyone else think?

Chris.

It was exactly this that stopped me going to Tankfest at Bovington

The same vehicles /planes every year as the staple display

It's the visiting vehicles/planes that add to the show -------you just after to workout if it's worth going to

As a child I could only have dreamed about seeing the types and numbers of them on the list, I never get bored with them or blasé, happy to see them year after year tbh, as one day I won't be able to see them and they will be missed. Personal preference ultimately.

Mike, that's the list for Flying Legends in July. The VE Day show list can be found here:

I think Duxford have fallen victim to their own success of recent May shows- Eagle squadron in 2013 and C-47 formation last year- and while there might not be a similar stand out act like those, there's still a lot of quality on that list. The Blenheim's first display post restoration, Duxford debuts for the Mystery Ship and Spartans, the Sharkmouth P-51 debuting in her new colours, a superb looking VE Day formation and a long awaited potential debut of the HAC Hawker Fury to name a few. Personally, I wouldn't like to take any of TFCs aircraft for granted either, as warbirds change hands at the drop of a hat, and you never know when you'll see one of your favourites for the last time, as I found out earlier this year when the Hellcat departed :(

I certainly can't think of anything better I'd rather be doing that weekend B)
