conor1939
I wanted to depict the two main aircraft in Northern Ireland in the late 1970s/ early 1980s. The Wessex is HC.2 XR498 'X' of 72 Squadron. This is the Italeri Sea Horse kit for the square windows, with the Heritage aviation conversion kit and Modeldecal decals for a Swift bird. Next up is the 33 Squadron Puma. This is the old Airfix kit OOB with the addition of PJ productions' Vietnam Helicopter Crew. My reference photos showed the Pumas to be fairly filthy so I tried to replicate that here. Thanks for looking

Viking
Good looking set of helicopters. I've always liked that scheme on the Wessex, it's become so familiar. Cheers John
Gary West
I was at Odiham when 72 & 33 were based there in the late 70s and I did 3 SH Det tours to Aldergrove to look after them during the same period.....make sure you add a RN HU5 to your set too, they were always present when I was there too. very nice builds Edited April 21, 2015 by Gary West

JimHead23
I can't remember the last time I saw an Airfix Puma. You've made a great job of an old kit. The Wessex is lovely!

I do remember the Wessex driver landing in the fields behind our house one day but even better, one of the 33squadron Pumas came and landed in our primary school playing field, and then we got to clamber inside. Left an indelible impression on this wee lad. We were invited to the family day at Odiham one year too, my first contact with a yellow SAR Sea King. Oh for a time machine and a digital camera!
