ShipbuilderMN
One of the few warships that I have ever built. HMS Dreadnought, 1906, lying at the buoys. Quite a challenge. Built from plans in The Anatomy of a Ship series. Bob

jean
Absolutely stunning build for a scratch exercise! I am left speechless. What scale is it? This shows you how much I know about warships! Congrats JR
ShipbuilderMN
Thanks JR, but I probably know less than any of you about warships! It is 32 feet to 1 inch. I got the plan from Anatomy of a Ship book. It was my first warship. The other was the heavy cruiser Norfolk. I just followed the plans to the best of my ability, didn't even know what half the stuff was for! Bob
ShipbuilderMN
Here is the good ship Norfolk, 32 feet to 1 inch. The Dreadnought and Norfolk are the only steam warships I have ever built! Bob
MikeW
What a magnificent build. The ship that that made everything else obsolete. Cheers, Mike

JimHead23
These are excellent. The Norfolk really does look like it's moving! I enjoyed your commercial ships but I don't have any knowledge of them. These two familiar sights have been superbly represented. I'm a big fan!
ShipbuilderMN
Thanks, I have very little knowledge of warships, and can't really remember why I built these two. My wife painted the sea on the Norfolk. I really prefer merchant ships because they are rather more colourful, and come in all sizes from tiny to the biggest things afloat, although my preference is ships built between about 1850 and 1965. It is unlikely that I will build any more warships! My ship was taken over by the RN in 1982 for the Falklands, and the Navy life did not really appeal to me, although it was a very interesting time! JimHead23
Wow! It sounds like you have an interesting life? I am more of an aircraft man to be honest but find myself getting drawn towards ship building recently and it's a whole new area of learning for me. I am fascinated by the Royal Navy schemes of the 1st and 2nd World Wars
