I know the kit is nearly as old as the real thing and I have seen some nice examples built on 'tinterweb but has anybody done one? I've seen some going for a good price in the environs.

I've only ever seen builds on the interweaving myself. But from what I saw it takes a lot if modification to even come close to looking like the real ship. There are so many things wrong with it I would leave it well alone. Get yourself the Encore USS Olympic premium edition. You will still need a dremel, but it's a much nicer build experience.

May need a windy hammer instead. I think I'll veer toward the 1/350 Flowers, oh and some Matchbox 1/700. It just looked such a 'different' ship. Will look into the 'Olympic.'
