Séan Pádraig
Tamiya primer in the rattle can is awesome. I just would love it if Tamiya bothered to make a version of their primer that one can spray with an airbrush.... that would be perfection! ! Has anyone tried to decant the tamiya spray can primer? would it need further thining?
mirageiv
Has anyone tried to decant the tamiya spray can primer? would it need further thining? I did it recently, straight from the can into the airbrush and sprayed on very well. However I found I needed to polish it with micro mesh (like most primers) to get a super smooth surface for paint. Not tried thinning it down yet but so far so good. Plus doing it via airbrush it should last a long long time. Very easy and I'll use it more in the future. mollythedog
I started this thread when I was in England last year. I should have updated it! I'm sorry to hear that some of you had problems with the Simoniz stuff. I bought 6 cans, and have already used 4.For what I use it for it is brilliant-thin and a little runny, but it dries quickly and 2 coats are best. And the real bonus for me is that since using it under the Vallejo acrylics,if there is a slight blemish in the final coat I can carefully blend it back using very wet 1000+ grit wet n dry and the Vallejo doesn't "tear" like a layer of plastic-when this happens you are bu***red and have to strip and start again. But,I am spraying metal castings and pe,not plastic. And bought off you know where it is £4 for 500ml when you buy 6. 12 is even cheaper.... I did get to a "Range" but they had not one single can of primer of any sort,so I'm still none the wiser on whether it is any good for my needs.Obviously one of you lot got there first..... mtd
