Gareth Morgan
Hi guys Recently became interested in car modelling again and i was wondering if anyone had used the above site and would recommend it? Cheers Gareth
rs2man
Hi Gareth Yes , I've used them . I've only ordered twice & 1 of the orders was only sent at the end of last week so it's still in transit , but the 1st one arrived within a couple of weeks & was well-packed . In summary , my experience is limited , but entirely positive so far . Just make sure your order is less than 18 quid , or you run the risk of not only having to pay VAT on it , but also being had over by the legalised muggers at Royal Mail with their "handling charge" . Mark
I've used them a lot and have never had an issue. I would definitely have no doubt in recommending them.
Stu_davros
I've used them quite a few times as well, good fast delivery and reasonable prices.
rs2man
Cheers for that John. My prospective order currently stands at £54 I would suggest you have a look at the relative cost of splitting your order into several smaller , below the threshold , orders with several lots of postage as against 20% VAT and RM's mugging , which I think is usually about 8 quid and see which is the cheaper option .
dalea
Agree with Mark. They also seem to have a few things hidden away at Japanese prices.
cmatthewbacon
None of my last three orders from 1999 have been hit with VAT or handling. It's always a bit of a lottery with Japanese orders, but HLJ orders get intercepted and ransomed way more often than 1999 in my personal experience... I agree that it's a lottery , but the cost of being hit with the VAT & mugging needs to be considered when deciding whether it's economically worthwhile ordering from Japan . If the parcel doesn't get held to ransom , then it's a nice bonus . It's interesting that you've found that HLJ orders seem more likely to be ransomed - I suppose something on the packaging must attract the wrong sort of attention

S.Tasker
Hi How do you fill in the address form on the website as all that comes up is for Japanese addresses?
smackers
It's probably the next most used online Japanese shop i use after HLJ, the discount is not so great as HLJ but when HLJ run out of certain items these usually have them. Can't fault them personally.
cmatthewbacon
A positive update -- two packages from 1999.co.jp arrived yesterday, without any interference, ransoming or extra charges, which means my Tamiya 300SL cost me £25 delivered, and the Fujimi 928S just under £20... bestest, M.
