Fatboydim
This is the Tamiya 1/48th scale Douglas A-1J Skyraider. I added a etched seat harness and a QuickBoost resin Canopy Actuator Cover. The model was painted with Hannants Xtracrylix colours and weathered with artist gouache. The decals are Iliad Design Sheet 48019. Special Ops Skyraiders. The bomb fuse wires are knitting elastane. Thanks for looking.

philtn
This looks AMAZING! I also love the camera perspectives and angles. Big fan of the camo too. Probably my favourite one next to the Korean War blues... May I ask what colors you used? Gunze maybe?

Fatboydim
Slick build, interesting to see that the wing can be added later. Shaun. Thanks Shaun, it's only because the fit of the wing to the fuselage is so good that no filler is required.
Kampartiger
Appreciate the ground level pictures of the superbly done Skyraider as if it's a walk around.Interesting decal choice too as I never realized that sharkmouths are painted on Skyraiders in Vietnam!
Mark
Beautiful work! It's a great kit, I've got a few on the go at the moment here and am using the same Iliad Designs sheet as you have done, although mine is the 'Lieutenant America' option. Your paintwork is superb and the base just sets the model off really nicely.
Fatboydim
Thank you Kampartiger. This aircraft appears in the Squadron Signal Walk Round A-1 Skyraider book. It said the Skyraider displayed a shark mouth on the cowl as a friendly jab at the F-4 Phantom Squadrons that had shark mouths painted on their aircraft. I've seen your duel builds when you started and left a couple of post. I was in two minds whether to do the shark mouth or the Lieutenant America option as I like both. I've also made a Navy Skyraider. In all, I've made four of these kits. They go together so well. The only thing I added was belts and the cover that you also intend to use. I will look forward to seeing the finished models. Good luck, Joe

Mark
Hi Joe, Yes, sorry, I did see that but forgot when I posted my comment above. I keep looking at that base and should really think about something similar! I think it's the hexagonal base that sets it apart from the usual PSP sheet bases that you see as well as the yellow markings, it does look very effective indeed. Where did you get the PSP sheet from? My two will be accompanied by a blue Korean War aircraft as well as an FAA AEW version. I do love this kit!
rmcclure
That's a good looking model Joe - very well done indeed. It's nice to see some restrained weathering as well. Xtracrylix paint does work well doesn't it? Cheers, Roger

Hi Mark, I bought the wooden base from a craft shop in Beaulieu. The PSP sheet was from Parabellum in Birmingham. It is resin and made by a French company who's name I can't remember. I cut it to fit the base and sprayed it with Humbrol metalcote. I then just painted a yellow line and a number 2 on top. It must be at least 15 years old, if not more. That's a good looking model Joe - very well done indeed. It's nice to see some restrained weathering as well. Xtracrylix paint does work well doesn't it? Cheers, Roger Thank you Roger, yes it's a good paint, but I must confess I do struggle a bit with it sometimes. I always use a primer with it for better adhesion.Thank you also Janremco, Joe
