'V'
I suppose if I think I'm back aircraft modelling I need to do something different. Yes there are two unfinished Vulcans, a B1 & a B2 half hanging out of a box, but I've made many of them. This will be very different & I'll have to do some research ..... I should also have worked harder at learning Czech, because I'm guessing at what my Czech language books are telling me !! To show intent ...... the kit & yes I've cut plastic .......... Only time will tell ......... 'V'
robvulcan
It's great to have you back V and always good to do something different (that's rich coming from me). I'm keen on learning as much about Vacsas possible so I'm watching

'V'
Hi Woody37, It is me, yes. I've never stopped modelling, but had burnt out the desire to do more aircraft. Six, or sever years working on railway modelling has if anything improved on my skills levels, different materials, in particular scenic work, more weathering than building of stock and my one & only brass/white metal locomotive build is still in progress. Now obviously I should know you, but not through woody37. I shall have to do a little research to see if I can work it out. Still doing railways - This is to be used by children at exhibitions. My design & build with 'Percy' from the Bachmann USA range pulling a wagon made from a kit. To me Modelling is Modelling whatever subject it may be. This is aimed at the young who whatever we may say will be the future of ...... everything. 'V'
'V'
Tonight's aircraft modelling. 1 Tailplane, this is a rougher kit than some, but after a lot of scraping and a little sanding we have 1 part !! Now back to making chimney pots for my scratch built pub !! 'V'
woody37
A few years ago, my son would of loved to see the Thomas set, it's too uncool now he's 9! Great scenery though We met on the BC sig table a few years back if I remember, I'm Neil.
'V'
Is that the Neil who brought several models to Birmingham when BC won the best display ? If so yes I remember. 'V'
'V'
Managed to do some more today. I need to cut out the instrument panel, floor & rear bulkhead. Only just enough to see the outline. Fuselage sides to be matched to the wing that is now glued together, in a while I I'll be needing to test fit that floor. No moulding for undercarriage parts, they will have to be scratch built, while not difficult it would be nice to have an idea of what should be there - Internet search due methinks. My only references are Czechoslovak Aircraft 1945-1984 by Vaclav Nemecek & Aircraft of Czechoslovak Pilots by Vaclav Sorel. I shall muddle on and see what eventually sits before me !! 'V'
Hi Andrew.S, Thank you so much, a superb walk around set of photographs. I have little excuse not to get it almost right. I say almost as the kit is not exactly a brilliant vacform as can be seen. Already I note nowhere near enough dihederal. I have no idea how I'll splice the canopy on .... yet, but no rush. robvulcan
I'm loving all this Vac stuff V it's inspiring as I have a few vacs on the stash bought to learn how to. Mostly welsh v bombers (what a surprise) along with a nimrod and some other pieces. Cheers Rob
'V'
Hi all my crazy readers, Have a sense of humour .......... particularly when things go slightly awry. I joined the main wings which was just 2 pieces, with built in dihederal ....... only they were so thin when ready to join the dihederal got lost, well reduced too much for my liking. What you need is a razor saw to cut through the entire underside and into the leading & trailing edges of the top. Then a pig to get equal height each side. In fact the packing was a couple of slivers of thick paper. Paper is absorbant and will stick to plastic (found out from railway modelling) when soaked with liquid polly. Polly & pigs, I must be down on the farm !! This one is going to test me. Rob if your Nimrod is the Formaplane one it's the only failure I've had. The plastic was so thin just holding it to sand filler off the seams would crack open the join line as it flexed. I tried drilling & running plastic rod through the fuselage from each side. That helped, as did box section spars from plasticard, it was starting to look not too bad, but by then I'd given up because the Airfix one had come out.
