Boeing 737 STGB chat

I've decided that, due to my currently ongoing battle with an Eastern Express 737, I will place my second not-yet-started EE 737 at the back of the stash, perhaps to be discovered by the 23rd century version of Indiana Jones long after my death. Seriously, that thing...is so terrible it could actually be weaponized. Instead I will probably be building a Revell 737-800 in NordStar colors. What variants/airlines are other planning?

(Also a thread bump)

This could be interesting and leads nicely into a question I've wanted answers to for a while:  How many kit producers and variants of the B737 are there, especially those still available, if one wants to get one for this GB?

Hi Ray,

thanks for this listing.  A B737-800 is my choice of build for this.

How is it that this gb is so far away, in 2018 in fact, and yet my next post will probably be:  "How is it that this is upon us so soon?  I'm not ready yet!" :frantic:

So does anyone else have any additions to the B737 list of kits that I may have missed in the list above?

Hi Ray

I'm a bit behind the game here but you don't seem to have included:

Authentic Airliners 1/144

B737-100/-200/-600/-700/-800/-900

I'm already planning for this (yes, I know it's in 2018) and at the moment the most likely candidate is a Condor 737-230/Adv in the natural metal/yellow tail scheme. Whether I'll use the AA kit or modify an Airfix one will be decided in due course.

Cheers

Seems Zvezda will be releasing a 737 late (?) this year, just in time for the STGB next year! If it's an -800, that's what I'll use instead of a Revell one of course! Much prefer Zvezda's quality and details.

If it is a 737-800 then that will be good news, I've been looking for one for a while.  Any links on that release?

Mike

Other than this and this not a lot so far.  The Airliner Cafe thread rambles off at various tangents and there doesn't seem to be much hard information.

Hasegawa never did a -300. They did a -500. You will have to chop a -400 to get a -300!

Plus I will throw my hat in the ring with this: Magnicharters 737-300 (1/144 Minicraft) I haven't built anything in years, so I chose something simple. ^_^

Hasegawa also did a -500 as just noted, but there's also a -700 (which you can use to make a Wedgetail, along with Draw Decals in 1/200).

Having just seen this group, I think I will join with that! Love the 737 though as a fairly frequent flyer I am kind of getting sick of being in them!

Wow! What seemed ages away is now just around the Christmas/New Year corner.

I'd love to join in as well, especially as I've got plenty of 737's of different versions and scales in the stash. A quick check of my decal list reveals 80+ still waiting to be used, so it might take me a while to settle on which to pick. Maybe do one I've flown on...

I also here that Zvezda is now doing a -700, more for the stash

Hi Ray,

Yes, the word is that they are going to do a -700. I heard about it the day after I'd taped up a Zvezda -800 in preparation for shortening the fuselage. I'm waiting just in case, so I'm on hold for my Cimber Sterling -700.

It's not the first time I've started a conversion, only to have a new kit come out. I chopped down a Revell A320 to an A319 when, you guessed it! Likewise chopping an MD-80 to make a MD-87, and now I've got the EE kit.

Zvezda has announced an -8MAX in their 2018 catalogue.
