Alex Gordon
You won't hurt the plastic. If you decide to try to strip it off don't use cellulose thinners, that will destroy the plastic.

stevehnz
I'm assuming from this last post it dudn't go well. An acrylic varnish should strip OK with IPA ( rubbing alcohol, meths)which will leave just the canopy to remask (Hope its not a FW189 ) If I'd seen this in time I'd have recommended a loose mask of the canopy before you sprayed even something like post-its around the base with some tape to seal them at the top.Steve. jaffa
The canopy has misted over (even after testing on an old canopy) And the model itself now looks like it's been sprayed with sandpaper again after testing the mixture on a scrap bit and been happy with the results
ScarecrowJoe
I have used Future polish with an airbrush over clear parts without any issues so far.
stevehnz
Would the canopy come clear if the varnish was removed from it? I'm guessing the varnish has gone on unevenly hence the misting effect & rough finish on your paint. Possibly drying before it hits the model, maybe needs some drying retarder but in the mean time, don't do anything hasty, perhaps on your paint some buffing with very fine foam pads/micromesh would retrieve the situation, if your paint is acrylic, using alcohol to strip the varnish will attack the paint too.
