MIKE_HUSKY
Hi guys, as I promised I'm posting my new work in progress, the Ducati 916 from Tamiya in 1/12 scale. Normally I build armoured tank and airplane of WWII, but now I think is time to try out new modelling way. I love motorcycles and particularly the Ducati bikes. The Ducati 916 kit it's a good kit but it have 20 years old and the age is visible clearly. The fusion lines are evident and is necessary too patience for to clean all parts. For verify the correct clean phase, I used a grey colour and painted it on worked surface. I started with step 1 , the swing arm, the rear damper. I made some holes on rear brake with manual drill, for more realistic effect. I continued with the step 2 , the engine. It's very fine and well detailed. It's necessary to fill some little space with putty. I used Mr. Surfacer 500. I decided which did not glue some pieces for more follows paint steps. Next step is n.3, to build the chassis, rear fender and the assembly of chassis, engine and swing arm. For the chassis is necessary some putty to fill little gaps, but all is easy. In rear fender are present some pin extractor to remove. I decided to work the various pieces and I will paint they in next time, then I did not assembly engine and rear swing on chassis, but I continued with step n.4. It's dedicated to the exhausts, they are composed from three parts. Also is necessary to use some putty for the terminals exhausts. Now I have a question for modellers which had built this kit. The instructions sheet show to make the exhausts directly on chassis, but this sequence is not easy because will be necessary putty in the union zone. My idea is to build the complete exhausts before, paint they and then mount on chassis. What do you think? Thank you guys for patience and see you soon .... mike

MIKE_HUSKY
Hi guys thanks for your comments. Now I'm building the exhausts, they are no easy to assembly and they request a few of putty. Actually they are in two pieces for more easy base coat paint, after this step I think to complete the assembly in one piece and refine all. I hope you like it. MIKE_HUSKY
Hi guys, I return on 916 after I have completed the Sherman Firefly. I love changing modelling sector sometimes. Yesterday I started with the paint of some piece of frame and engine. For first time I used new products of Italian factory KColours. I used primer based on solvent , I sprayed a base coat with my badger 150 airbrush with medium nozzle. . It's very fine. It's dried in some minutes but I preferred to wait 30 minutes for to spray a colour layer of KColours Ducati Frame. This colour is based on water. It's too easy to use. Today I'm going to paint the engine. Coming soon new photos. Mike
MIKE_HUSKY
Hi guys, Yesterday I re painted the frame, exhausts and wheels because I was not satisfied of the result. With a dark primer and the same colours the result is ok right now. Today I'm going to built the engine. see you soon... mike.

MIKE_HUSKY
Hi guys, Today I assembled the engine with the frame and this is the result. Now I'm thinking to add some electrical cables .........I downloaded a manual maintenance of Ducati 916 but it isn't easy to decide which cables add and their path .... Do you have any suggestions?
