Mike Esposito
This kit looks awesome. Was wondering if Airfix will in the future release a 1/72 Lacastrian Airliner? Looks like it would be possible with the sprue layout as is. Loving the new tool Airfix kits. Thanks Edited February 23, 2015 by Mike Esposito
woody37
Hi Mike I don't believe they will. Blackbird models have a good relationship with Airfix and will be releasing a conversion kit this year for the Lancastrian Cheers Neil
Mike Esposito
Thanks Neil. I guess that's ok. Assuming the conversion fits the new tool Lanc.

woody37
It is for the new Airfix Lanc Mike. Freightdog also do the Tallboy conversion including bomb & bomb bay doors
The wooksta V2.0
Hasegawa released a Grand Slam Lancaster as a limited edition. A Lancaster VI should be fairly easy for Blackbird to do - they already have the engines and the inner adaptors, would just need some new outer nacelles I think, unless the Lincoln ones will fit the current kit. Mike Esposito
I wonder when blackbird will release that Lancastrian conversion kit?
The wooksta V2.0
S&M do the nose and tail cones for the Lancastrian, I *think* that they're geared to go with the 2013 Lancaster kit. Magna does a conversion for the older tool Airfix Dambuster which I believe also comes with decals.

Albeback52
Hmmm! An Avro York to go with the Lancastrian would be nice. A Manchester would be even nicer. Allan

Eric Mc
Will the conversion work on the older Airfix or even the Matchbox Lanc?
AnonymousLL45
They are all designed for the new kits so I cannot say they'd work as well with the old Airfix one, and even less so with the Matchbox kit. Our pattern maker has tried to make these as user friendly as we can for the new kits. Hope you can see that side of it. Glenn
The wooksta V2.0
Without seeing the Lancastrian, I think it should fit the older kits but some use of filler may be required to blend the newer sections in. I've had to do that with resin conversions intended for the new tool Revell Lancaster. As regards the Lancaster VI, it looks to be more geared for the newer tool. The outer nacelles may require some cutting and grouting to fit, whilst the inner nacelles may need some widening.
Eric Mc
Thank you. It seems one would be better off sticking with the kit they were intended for.
