Aerofix
Can anyone help please? I need either a) plans to enable a scratch build or a kit, probably Illustrious plus plans to convert. My Dad was on Formidable during its last voyage to the Far East before paying off. Thanks David.
Graham Boak
Possible injection moulded kits are the 1/400 Heller HMS Illustrious, now quite old, and the 1/700 Aosima HMS Illustrious, not to be recommended. Resin kits I know of are the recent 1/700 HP models of HMS Illustrious and HMS Victorious. Once you've determined the basic differences for HMS Formidable, you will find the Anatomy of the Ship book on HMS Victorious invaluable for the late-war fit of the class. steveinns
Longgggggggggg overdue from kit manufactures is a new tool Illustrious class aircraft carrier & her sisters. To my mind they were very aesthetically pleasing looking magnificent ships. They all had very interesting camouflage schemes during their brief careers. Now that just about every other nations navy's have been represented in a mixture of scales, isn't it about time the Royal Navy got a long overdue look in ? After all the senior service has a long an Illustrious history [ no pun intended ! ] There can't be any American or axis ship that hasn't been done to death by now. Maybe just maybe, we'll see some RN aircraft carriers since there has been a recent new tool HMS Ark Royal from Aoshima ?
Alan P
You're right, the RN is very poorly served by plastic kit producers in the all important 1/350. American WWII destroyers, carriers and battleships are all well represented, but cruisers and post-war subjects are very scarce. It would be great to see some US and RN subjects from the 50s and 60s given some representation.
Shar2
With the release in 1/350 of HMS Queen Elizabeth, Warspite, Belfast, and the soon to be released HMS Nelson and Rodney, hopefully the Carriers will be next.
Fatboydim
I would like any Royal Navy carrier. But a 1960's HMS Eagle or HMS Victorious would be my first choice.

Fatboydim
Sorry, I should have said 1/350th scale. I could play for hours positioning the aircraft.

Fatboydim
So I believe. I can remember my dad taking me aboard HMS Centaur during Navy Days at Portsmouth.
