HL-10
Saw this at IWM Duxford last week. Its definitely a Chieftain hull with what looks like a Flak Panzer Geppard Turret on it. Dads203
The Marksman system, Accurate Armour do a nice 35th scale conversion for the Tamiya Chieftain.
Centaur95
The only customer for the Marksman system was Finland. I think they purchased about 12 turrets and fitted them to T55 hulls (purchased specially from Poland). The turret was designed as a self-contained drop-in for most MBT hulls (the default option was the T54/55 family but with an adaptor collar it could fit just about any then-current MBT hull). The prototype turret was trial fitted to T55, Type 59, T72, Chieftain, Centurion and M60. There was even a concept to use it as a fixed defence system on a concrete bunker. The production turrets (for Finland) had a later style of gun pod rather than the same Gepard-style multi-angular examples on the prototype. The Accurate Armour turret is nice but I think it's the prototype, so you couldn't do the Finnish ones. Cheers, Centaur
spruecutter96
Morning, All. I was chatting to a fella from the Duxford Military Vehicle Preservation Society and he said that BAE Systems sold this to the museum for the very reasonable sum of £1! And that included the delivery. He said that the gun breeches have been removed - for obvious reasons - and that the radar system was great at tracking air-liners in the local area. Cheers. Chris.
