SeanM
15 green sprues, 1 clear, 8 tyres, upper and lower hull and a small fret of PE: thats a lot of plastic! This could take a while.... Edited February 23, 2015 by SeanM

SeanM
Thanks Steve, I hope it will be when complete Another step completed...just fitting the connectors on the front of the hull took nearly an hour....but I'm becoming a big fan of tamiya extra thin cement! SeanM
Just ordered this to make it an even more difficult build
SeanM
Most of the undercarrige assembled last night: getting the axels, shocks, & wishbones alligned was very simple because of the design and fit of the pars. Just using the Mk1 eye-ball they all look straight & level & alligned
SeanM
Started on the top. Side bins were a bit fiddly to get alligned as there is a sperate front, bottom, both ends and really tiny "posts" but fit is perfect. Still lots more to go on tot & sides. Keeping off the tools etc until after painting.
Stesca
Coming along superbly Sean, this is a great model, nice work.
SeanM
Thanks Steve, it may not look like much has changed but this is after 2 reasonable sessions at the bench since last photo. Some of the bits are tiny and cutting & cleaning the sprue attachments is time consuming given the number and size. But fit is perfect on all bar 1 so far.
Harfoot
that looks a challenge, the instructoins look very complex. Will follow your build
SeanM
The instructions are very detailed but actually well laid out and clear. The problem is finding the parts on so many sprues So far I have been leaving off any fragile bits like handles etc until just before painting. Currently working on the RWS.....wait till I get to the plow!

SeanM
Thanks Gents. RWS complete, but won't put the 50 on till after the painting. PE grills on the intakes and exhaust. Will start the handles tomorrow then spray with rattle can before inserting the vision blocks from below then mating the two hull halves and doing the rear ramp
SeanM
Still working away on this. Didn’t get a lot of time at the bench this week but nearly ready to spray the base colour before inserting the vision blocks (so what colour is “magenta” really?) and putting the body together. Then can start all the real detailing and the plow. And just been informed the springs & chains for the plow won't be available until April (so May by the time they arrive here) but at the rate over the last week that might still be OK Edited March 6, 2015 by SeanM
phildagreek
An impressive looking kit.
SeanM
Thanks Phil. No pics yet but started the plow last night. Slow going. Lots of parts, lots of cleaning the sprue attachments and so small my thick fingers have trouble. And poor eyesight! But the fit of every tiny piece is unbelievably good. And thank God for Tamiya liquid glue
SeanM
Finally got the upper & lower hulls sprayed as well as the rear, basket and marker holders and wheels. Need to work on the vison blocks next before I can seal her up. Also started on the plow components. This is an awful lot of plastic!

SeanM
Thanks Steve. More work on the plow and just took this photo to show how fine and detailed the kit is. This part is the main “holder” to which the actual plow segments attach. The outer portions are able to fold up when not in use so it’s not wider than the vehicle. This feature is perfectly replicated in working order! The plates and pins are fiddly to get alligned (more my thick fingers & eye-sight I think) but really very finely engineered. Having said all that I’m going to put it in the deployed position and put a 2nd optional pin in place for suppor twhich will mean it’s not mavable. If I left it I’m sure I’d manage to break it before the end plus with the springs & chains it woll be easier attach in the deployed position. The more I do on this kit the more I love it! AgentG
Looking very very good from over here. I happened upon some "Origami Foil" at a local craft store. The package came in four colors, one of which I feel looks like the elusive "Magenta" we have heard from in the legends. Gold Green and Blue were the remaining colors. You might want to take a look around. Naturally I'm across the pond but there should be something similar there for you. G
SeanM
Thanks G, but i went with painting the vison blocks back, top and sides with a mix of clear, red & yellow approx 5:2:1 ratios, backed with silver and then body color. This should give them a bit of depth. Will know it it works tonight
AgentG
Sounds about right! Looking forward to the results. G
SeanM
Happy with how the vision blocks came out. Can seal it all up now and start detailing... Have also being working on the plow. Talk about intricate and detailed but slow and steady got me through it. Still some clean-up to do and the actual blade segments have yet to go on but the amazing thing is it actually raises and lowers....probably won't after a coat of paint but it just shows how well engineered the kit is if even I managed to do it in working order. There was 1 disaster of my own making (read instructions and check orientation of parts carefully) but i did recover it with just a bit of cutting and excess glue
